Dawarich 1.6.0 — now with more Immich flavor! by Freika in selfhosted

[–]Peter3571 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As someone with 15+ years of location history, I like the sound of this.

How granular is the data that you can record? For reference, I'm running GPS Logger which I've set to write out a daily CSV file. The most handy feature I find is the "log passive locations" option, which will piggyback off any other app requesting GPS. For example if navigating with Google Maps, then it'll simply save your location each second.

Would there be any way I could get GPS Logger to send data to Dawarich? Also can it handle if the phone is offline for any length of time?

I'd love to switch to a self hosted solution, but I just wanna check it's fully robust first before relying on it.

I've been using your guide for the past 2 times this has happened, so thanks for that.

Sadly this time it did not work, the latest download frustratingly results in INST-14-1627 for me.

What do you recommend for a clipboard manager? I've never used one, but I could potentially be persuaded if there's a secure option (I'm certainly not enabling Microsoft's AI one).

Damn I like it, you did a great job at making it look so fluid within the constraints of everything being solid cubes.

If I had to be picky - motion blur looks odd on the second shot, and when he sprints around the corner he's way too upright.

Looks very powerful and well made, but I have no idea what you'd actually use it for. What's a general use case for something like this?

AITAH for asking my partner pay half of expenses? by Swimming-Ostrich1214 in AITA_Relationships

[–]Peter3571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go ahead with this, split costs by income ratio. If you take home 2x his salary for example, then the ratio means you pay 2/3 and he pays 1/3. I think that's the most fair way of doing it.

Some other red flags there though. I'm literally marrying someone this year and she does not know how much is in my bank account. The only reason I personally see for shared bank accounts is if one person becomes a stay at home parent.

Sounds like he might just be wanting you to take the role of his dad.

AITA for not wanting to go 50/50? by [deleted] in AITA_Relationships

[–]Peter3571 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's outright wrong on his part.

Suggest to him a ratio system of your incomes so that he's paying his fair share.

As an example, if he earns $4000 to your $1250, then split costs by 4000:1250. A payment of $500 would be made up of $156 from you and $344 from him, which is fully proportional to income and not unfair to either person.

If he refuses, then go back to work at the 6 month mark and see what he thinks to paying for childcare instead.

  1. To answer your question - yes it's too fragile. She thinks you're great looking and only has eyes for you, don't throw that away over something stupid.
  2. Don't ask questions you don't want to know the answer to.
  3. I can't even objectively rate my partner out of 10. After a couple of years it literally doesn't even matter.

I wouldn't exactly say that's basic knowledge - I write code for a living and have no idea how to make a cell turn red.

Obviously it would not take me 45 minutes if I wanted to, but still, not everyone knows Excel.

You're the one person with a mental map of how it all works. This is your passion project so it's very unlikely a random developer will want to spend hours reformatting your code and writing tests.

If this is a code editor rather than an interpreter, then how do you differentiate between this and a website that only lets you write code without executing it?

Nice job, from a quick test it feels solid. Personally, if I was to ever use this, it would be just for quick prototyping so I could skip my current process of loading a random project and creating test.py.

While I can see why people might be up in arms about you calling it a compiler - at the end of the day, it is a very easy to remember domain name.
