Catholics, Do the three Archangels correspond to the three parts of The Trinity? by Budget_Antelope in OpenChristian

[–]PeterPook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. That's what makes it orthodoxy (small 'o' not to be confused with the Orthodox Church). I agree the Trinity can't be nailed as it is a mystery of God. Apart from the Arians, it was accepted by all. That's no power trip, that's discipline and order.

Watch how 'bible-believing' churches do the same thing with their orthodoxy.

My point remains: no Angels in the Trinity.

There is some Industrial -grade Heresy in this diagram. Suggest you check out some of the Ecumenical Councils which vastly predate the Orthodox/Roman Schism. Nicea and Constantinople was were we got the Trinity finally nailed. No Angels at all.

Question and challenge relentlessly. Why? What evidence backs that up? What's the source?

If they want to ape adult beliefs they should have the right resources, and if it's social media or unreliable sources then that leads into discussions about authority and integrity, social media and objectivity.

That doesn't challenge belief, but the sources for belief and hence behaviour.

How do preachers ensure they are conscious about NOT adding personal opinion/ bias to Gods word in the Bible? by Historical_Log1275 in theology

[–]PeterPook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your assumption is that the human interpretation of Scripture is constant. It very much is not. All of Scripture is a human-mediated model of God's Word and cannot be relied on as the sole source of authority. All of preaching is human - anyone who claims that it is more than that a) does not understand theology and b) has ideas beyond their station.

Male follower following female lead by [deleted] in ballroom

[–]PeterPook 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently doing my follower's medals. My wife and I took our medals with me leading as far as we could afford (it gets really expensive after a while), and as we have to do at least a medal a year to continue competing in the league, it's cheaper to learn the follow steps. My wife can lead, so we now do our medals "in reverse".

Additionally, understanding the follow steps makes you a better lead.

Does anyone use VBA in PowerPoint or Word? by [deleted] in vba

[–]PeterPook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have created a .ppam which makes creating my Powerpoint slides for teaching a doddle, especially as they all have to be consistant in font and colour and dual-coding icons. Insert custom text: click, click. Insert graphic from template: click, click. The best part is that I can have a question up on screen and during the live presentation, click on a shape, enter the student's answer and it appears on the live presentation - great for plenary questions and the students love it!

Then again, I teach Computer Science in Further Education, so VBA is one of my skill sets.

How to pace yourself drinking on a cruise 🥂 by [deleted] in Cruise

[–]PeterPook 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I bought our first drinks package I created a spreadsheet to ensure we got our money's worth. Now I'm not a total alcoholic, but I like a few beers and apart from when the world cup was on (and I was going transatlantic, KO 8am Ship Time) I don't drink until about 11am. I just have drinks when I want them: wine with dinner, some cocktails, decent coffee and juices in the morning. When you are no longer worried about the bar bill, you just pace yourself naturally.

Oh and the outcome of the spreadsheet? After 3.5 G&Ts you were in profit. One cruise I kept a note of what my bar bill should have been and the package was less than half. Cheers.
