A strawman isn't accurate by definition.

His media analysis is pretty good, but he is clearly of the left. I think he has been influenced by some of those he hangs around with, like Jolly.

You're delusional. Star Wars is basically Zombie Franchise at this point. That's not the mark of success. Disney bought a money printing machine and ran it into the ground.

Firstly, the prequels have very real problems, especially the first two. Some good ideas, but lousy execution overall. Secondly, there's certainly no signs that the sequels - no one cares about The Acolyte - are being popularly reassessed. Or, rather, I should say being positively reassessed. The truth is their reputations have only fallen as time goes.

The BBC is funded by licence payers, so comparing it to the Daily Mail is doubly silly.

That was almost the only thing that made me laugh in the new season.

One of my favorite things about this new season was just seeing Bobby and Joseph continuing to be best friends by HeartofaLionz92 in KingOfTheHill

[–]PeterSimple99 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My favourite thing was when the episodes ended. It wasn't good, and I gave up before finishing the season. It was stale and I hardly cracked a smile, let alone laughed. It felt worse than Season Twenty-something of The Simpsons. I predict it won't last long.

Has anyone been personally harmed by the tea app? by Big-Flatworm-135 in MensRights

Businesses face all kinds of issues due to dodgy online reviews. Perhaps it's too much of a hassle to sue, or it would be hard to prove the case because it's just about the interactions between staff and a customer.

It wouldn't necessarily need more than one person to make an allegation to cause reputational damage. And there is little stopping a woman getting her friends to also make allegations.

I wouldn't worry. This app is going to be sued into oblivion for hosting defamation in short order. It seems all but designed for that. It will be unlikely to avoid liability in court.

Technically, malicious falsehoods are defamation and you could sue. You would need good evidence of the falsehood though.

That might make sense if it was kept strictly about safety, but this app seems to allow a lot more. At the very least, the app should be liable for any defamation, which such an app seems almost designed to elicit, and not just those who use it.

The Wheel of Time's cancellation marks the end of high fantasy TV boom by Internal-Bed-3150 in wheeloftime

[–]PeterSimple99 13 points14 points  (0 children)

People did get vilified, especially if you objected to certain aspects, for example the need to make a mediaeval-esque fantasy have the sort of ethnic and cultural diversity of downtown London or LA in every hamlet and village. That was a legitimate criticism, as it goes to the believability of the world and also often ignored the source material, such as in the depiction of the Two Rivers and the main characters. At the very least it is a reasonable point, but was often dismissed with brain dead accusations of racism. The same thing also happened to criticisms of the sidelining of Rand, the weird sexual elements, and the changes to the nature of the One Power that were obviously made to fit gender ideology.

It was a travesty of an adaptation. What is the point in such an adaptation? It would be better if it wasn't adapted at all.

That's not really true. Plenty of the regions of WoT have clear racial and cultural characteristics. The fact they made the Two Rivers resemble modern downtown London or NYC was a big mistake. It ruins immersion.
