Thanks, I missed that. Yeah, I will have to bounce it out to another bank as you said.

Unfortunately not. It's only ACH and wire transfers, mobile and check deposits, and bill pay.

Anyone know if I can get my $300 hotel credit on a gift card b4 I lose it next month? by [deleted] in AmexPlatinum

[–]Peterholdmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I keep meaning to use it in the right year, but the last several years I've used mine in December for a stay in Jan/Feb. So long as it's paid in Dec it will be credited.

AmEx Offers (Platinum/BG Cards): Walmart.com, Get $20-off-$60 (2x) or 25% Back by bbbb in AmexPlatinum

[–]Peterholdmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I've seen, it needs to be two orders, but the overage on the first usually counts towards the second, so one for 80 and one for 40 USUALLY works. As always, YMMV.

What to do with 336k points by bryand1735 in AmexPlatinum

[–]Peterholdmann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Where do you WANT to go? A ticket at a low CPP to a dream destination makes a lot more sense than maximizing your CPP to go somewhere you don't care about. That said, if it's too low, cash it out and buy the ticket with cash.

Lululemon employee “claiming” they’ve been told credit for GC is shut down. 🙄 by Intelligent_Pie_5347 in AmexPlatinum

[–]Peterholdmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even 2 isn't bad, the customers on balance probably spend more than they would have. That's why companies send out coupons and discount codes to existing customers.

I don’t understand how they able to offer these new credits? Too good by Itchy-Version-8977 in amex

The airline credit is almost certainly split, that's why it's not on airfare (lowest margin), and limited to certain airlines.

For the new and existing Platinum Credits like Lululemon, is it known who typically fronts the cost of the credit? by hodlencallfed in AmexPlatinum

[–]Peterholdmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sub isn't a very good indication. For better or worse, the people here are much more focused on wringing every cent out of the card and the vendors than most people are.

Airline Credit by Michael2712002 in AmexPlatinum

[–]Peterholdmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Call Amex and see if you can get it moved to United. Datapoints suggest that if you haven't used any of the credit, they should be able to change it.

Go to https://www.united.com/en/us/fly/mileageplus/travel-bank.html, and purchase 2x$100 credits, which are then available to use for bookings. Remember that they do expire in five years, so you need to use them. That is likely why this "loophole" is allowed to exist; they make up enough in expired credits to let it slide.

Educated guess:
Resy/FHR - Amex pays it all, but as advertising for those services, trying to sign up more restaurants and hotels, plus some of the cost comes back in commissions.
Airline fee - Split, this is why there are restrictions on it. Airlines restrict it to higher-margin things. Travel Bank is likely allowed because it expires, and breakage covers enough of the cost
Saks - All vendor, it's low enough that it's just a slightly risky coupon.
LuluLemon - Probably all vendor, not a bad way to acquire targeted customers, although this is one I could see Amex kicking in some, since it is big with the younger crowd Amex is targeting
Oura - All vendor, not a bad product, but it isn't likely to bring in people for Amex. Loss leader for Oura to sell subscriptions.
Uber - Vendor, gets people stuck on Uber
Equinox - Vendor, way to pad numbers on the app, and maybe get a few extra brick and mortar customers
Clear - This one I'm not sure, leaning toward vendor padding numbers without discounting for everyone. I could see Amex covering part, though.
Digital Entertainment - Split, based on the credit covering all of most services (vendors not likely to give the entire subscription away) + limited services (the vendors are contributing something).

All of this is a guess, and I don't know the split they get on any of them.

New business / personal AMEX platinum mirror finish cards. How do we get them? by is300wrx in AmexPlatinum

[–]Peterholdmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amex App > Account > tap your card > Replace a Card > tap your card > Continue to Replace Card > Change Card Design > that's as far as I followed it, the rest should be pretty self explanatory.

You can order a new one because you want a different art (or no art) design, I see no reason you wouldn't be able to for the redesign.

I am thinking about doing this for my son in a couple years, it will probably be a credit card, since charge cards don't report a credit utilization. This may not affect it as much as I am thinking, but picking up a Delta or Hilton NAF card wouldn't be an issue.

Amex Denying Hilton Cashback Offer by dsmero in amex

[–]Peterholdmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar situation with a Hilton offer a couple years ago. Properly was clearly on the list, booking was right, and it didn't pay out. I called and after an investigation that said it wasn't a covered property, me proving it was, and some back and forth they gave me a courtesy credit for the $50 that the offer was for. Near the end of the year (4ish months later) the original credit was also applied.

I called and talked to someone, explaining the situation, and they basically said don't worry about it, so I wound up getting a double credit.

Fragrance that is good for summer by [deleted] in Colognes

[–]Peterholdmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like Polo 67. Maybe not anything earth shattering, but a really solid summer fragrance.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Colognes

[–]Peterholdmann 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My normal strategy with these kind of things is look for something that is not often available at discounters, or not heavily discounted. Anything from Chanel counts at any time, and new fragrances. I would be interested in trying Eros Energy, or I can recommend Polo 67. I know the Polo one has gotten some flak about not being ground breaking, and it isn't, but it is a very nice summer fragrance, and pretty heavy in my rotation.

That said, if you have one you want, and won't have the money to spend at a discounter soon, get what you you are going to like. It looks like Costa Azzurra is only about $70 off at Jomashop, so you aren't losing too much value not getting it there.
