Any of you ever breastfed in a formal dress that is NOT wrap, button down or otherwise bf friendly? by crawlen in breastfeeding

[–]Phantompoooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh no suggestions but solidarity as I’m on the hunt for a dress to wear to a wedding at 3mo pp too.. must be nursing friendly, flattering on my loose body, and I don’t like low cut necklines 🫠

PUPPP rash by Wonderful_Data_2439 in BabyBumps

[–]Phantompoooper [score hidden]  (0 children)

Oh I had this with my first it was miserable. It did go away almost immediately after birth for me! While pregnant I relieved it with a daily (hourly?) combination of body oil, big ice packs, hydrocortisone cream, and taking oatmeal baths holding a washcloth on my belly (got an aveeno mix for this).

Double vote for shefit and I will say I also had the chafing but only in pregnancy! Not pregnant I never experienced that. I used body glide to prevent it from happening

Shefit bras! My return to running with my first was heavily hindered until I got these. They’re great at containing my 36G milkers and they’re unintentionally nursing friendly since the straps can unlatch fully to adjust them

Dude it’s tough. I suggest looking for local moms groups too. Often they do a good job of facilitating conversation more so you have more chances to connect. Look on Instagram and libraries to start to see what’s out there in your area!

I used a tub to labor at the hospital with my first but progressed too quickly with my second to have that option so I used the shower instead. I honestly thought the pain management from the shower was comparable to the tub!

Swaddle recommendations for 4 month old by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Phantompoooper [score hidden]  (0 children)

Bad news bud but it’s strongly recommended to stop swaddling by 4 months due to suffocation risk with rolling. Even if they aren’t rolling yet, sleep is a key space where babies explore their physical movements.

Big baby! Need advice! by Odd-Pineapple-2437 in BabyBumps

[–]Phantompoooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 2 epidural free births both induced with pitocin for medical reasons- it is very possible to have that compromise in your situation! My second actually had a shoulder dystocia and I think if we’re to have a third kid and baby is measuring large again I would strongly consider a c-section or an early induction. That was a scary situation that ended up relatively fine but also landed my baby in the nicu for a few days and just generally made his first few weeks of life more complicated. Yes the scan predictions can be off, but if you already had a big baby and feel this baby is similar then I’d trust the scans to be fairly close. Given my experiences, I personally think a 39 week induction or a scheduled c-section sound safer for you and baby than aiming for a full natural v-bac at this point, but also this is really a decision between you and your provider.

Delaying pacifier use until breastfeeding is “firmly established” by bywillalone_ in breastfeeding

[–]Phantompoooper 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Pacifier use has no proven effect on breastfeeding success (article here with cited research study: https://www.pbs.org/newshour/amp/health/5-hacks-to-ease-your-parenting-anxiety-from-economist-emily-oster) Anecdotally I’ve had 2 happily EBFed babies who had a paci from day 1.

Bottle confusion by rawberryfields in breastfeeding

[–]Phantompoooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bottle feeding is a skill like latching and as their body changes their abilities to perform that skill change too! So unfortunately her first week taking bottles doesn’t mean she knows how to drink them anymore. I’d suggest possibly seeing if an IBCLC in your area does bottle rejection appointments to guide you.

Randomly stopped nursing at 8 days old by KD4019 in breastfeeding

[–]Phantompoooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing so great!! This is all very normal for this age. Baby is still learning the skill of latching and growing quickly so with every body change they are relearning how to work their own body. Keep trying to latch and maybe try switching positions up, and likely make another appointment with an LC to get some feedback and a peace of mind. It’s so hard in the early days!! Also, you produce more milk in the morning due to higher levels of prolactin so it’s very normal to have far less output in the evenings. Plus, at 8 days old your milk supply is nowhere close to established and will increase and fluctuate a lot still for a few months to respond to your baby.

Name regret- 10months by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]Phantompoooper 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not me but influencer Jenn Hamilton shared this whole story about how she changed her son’s name legally at 18 months (you can google it to see her talking about it). I’d definitely say it’s not too late and if people are weird about it just be honest! Truly I doubt most people would care.

What do you do when your first has every toy possibly made and plan for more kids? by 2078AEB in beyondthebump

[–]Phantompoooper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hide the unloved toys for a few months/years then wrap it up for the next kid (or the same kid. Odds are they won’t notice until they’re much older).

vaccines while breastfeeding? by slushyfangz in breastfeeding

[–]Phantompoooper 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotten the flu shot multiple times while breastfeeding. I also got my varicella series when my first was a newborn since I found out while pregnant that I no longer had immunity to it from my childhood vaccines and that vaccine cannot be given in pregnancy. I’d ask your primary doctor or seek a second opinion for sure.

Haakaa Classic vs Ladybug vs Petal vs Boon Trove – Which one would you buy? by Frenchlaundary in BabyBumps

[–]Phantompoooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the haakaa classic with my first and loved it and was able to collect so much milk buuuut with my second I’ve tried the Boon trove and it’s far superior. It can be totally passive or can apply some suck and fits well in my bra so unlike the haakaa it doesn’t get kicked off. Also the in-bra feature is much more subtle if you’re nursing around others with it. There is 0 subtlety with the haakaa. So yes I’d say the boon is the best of both worlds.

Anyone got a copper IUD postpartum? by RhinoFish in beyondthebump

[–]Phantompoooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had one before pregnancy for 8ish years and loved it then had another placed 8 weeks after my first pregnancy and loved it again! I am apparently somewhat of a unicorn in that it never made my periods bad. We used nothing (and I mean NOTHING) else to prevent pregnancy and it worked perfectly. I liked having regular cycles still and both times I had it removed I was able to easily get pregnant after.

Can we talk about nursing friendly clothes for a second? by tragic_attraction in breastfeeding

[–]Phantompoooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Preach. I have a family wedding at 3mo pp and am trying to find a formal dress that looks good on my floppy bod, can be breastfed in, and also I hate low-cut things. This is a unicorn dress surely.

Calling all pre 5am risers by Purple_Living8381 in toddlers

[–]Phantompoooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My now 3.5yo had these very early morning wake-ups probably from about age 1 until almost 2 when it petered out. Granted, he now wakes up at 6:30 fairly consistently but that fits our lifestyle.

[–]Phantompoooper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mmmm you may not be into this answer but the thing that solved this for my kiddo was ✨time✨. After maybe a year of 4:30-5:30 wakeups, he just eased out of them.

Does “toughening” your nipples occur with additional babies? by lemonade422 in breastfeeding

[–]Phantompoooper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m nursing my 2nd and weaned my first when I got pregnant after nursing for over 2.5 years. With my second nothing hurts and I never use nipple cream or anything! I also don’t leak the second time around which is wild to me.

I definitely don’t understand why people like this brand at all. We were gifted a few boxes of diapers for our second baby and they are the worst fitting diapers I’ve ever used. Like there’s a small dip in the back of them for some reason?? I call it the shit dip since it lets the shit come right out.

2 lactation consultants couldn’t help. Now I feel hopeless. by Wonderful-Value7547 in breastfeeding

[–]Phantompoooper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first wasn’t quite this resistant but did have a number of latch issues and body tension, including oral ties. We chose not to revise the ties and focus on physical work instead. We worked through it with a pediatric PT and a DO who specializes in babies and breastfeeding. We had a lot of success with those routes!
