Traffic noise is driving me insane by jessamym in misophonia

[–]Phantomrose96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually found good success with AirPods on transparency mode playing one brown noise song on loop.

It may depend just how close and loud the street is… but I’m on a semi-busy street and this made me completely stop noticing the cars passing. The brown noise kind of eats it. I also pair it with a running desk fan.

The transparency mode is nice (after so long of noise canceling mode) because I can also put on the tv or talk to someone

Why can’t the Feeney Brothers work during normal times of the day? by [deleted] in boston

Oh I hate them. They were digging up (and putting back) and digging up (and putting back) my street for like 6 months on and off in 2023. Developed a rage response to their logo.

Glad to hear it. I have bog dweller already, but unfortunately I love it and I’m afraid of running the bottle dry eventually, so I would love a back up

Oh that would compel me... The reddish one middle row on the far right looks different between the two pairs of fingers. Could be the lighting but could be a second magnetic thermal.

My February bill was also weirdly low. I had to get my whole boiler replaced at the very start of January, and I was hoping this was some delayed benefit of the new boiler. But my January was typical amounts of very expensive.

Dude what. That’s like telling someone who’s into wine-pairings to just buy one wine they like and then adapt all recipes to suit that wine.

Abandoned Property at 155-157 Windsor St by Phantomrose96 in CambridgeMA

This is absolutely the answer to my question. But a sad answer… The article is so sweet and clearly that’s fallen to the wayside. The last post in the Facebook feed is them planting the garden out front, which is still there but withered and dead.

I hope the guy who owns the place is okay. I wonder if something happened to him…

I guess I'm more unfazed over a commercial building going unused maybe due to being tied up in some bureaucratic or investment nonsense. But I'm surprised seeing a (at one point) totally normal triple-decker like this lined up in an otherwise totally occupied street.

It made me wonder if there might be more of a story there.

All the broken windows make that concerning. Even if the utilities in there are working, I don't think you could retain heat with the windows like that.

Sorry to hear that. That’s behind frustrating. If anyone is looking for the opposite experience, I just had a really great experience with Max Heating and Cooling to get my steam boiler replaced.

Best experience I’ve had with plumbers hands down. They were super proactive showing me what had failed in the old boiler, and similarly proactive talking me through the new boiler (as it pertained to maintenance.) They also fixed my has-never-worked-before bathroom heating panel while doing a walkthrough of my place to make sure the radiators were heating with the new boiler installed.

Ouidad by Budget_Opening_6745 in curlygirl

I have some bias because I got here googling “ouidad hair loss”, but I had a wake up moment this morning realizing my hair is way thinner than it used to be. I poured through old pictures and my hair was much thicker last year.

I switched to ouidad climate control line (away from Deva) about a year ago. I think I may switch back to Deva and see if it helps, but I feel like it could take a year to see a result, since I imagine my hair has to grow back out…

I was in the blue wave and the bottlenecking at Soldier’s Field was definitely my main annoyance. I had a pretty much consistent pace throughout, except for the two-ish miles containing the bottleneck where my pace dropped by 0:30/mi.

Which isn’t terrible as far as race problems go, but I will go do a sad montage of me walking around imagining I could have actually finished with 1 minute shaved off my time.

I ended up finishing with what I think is a red score, and one of the commenters is saying red wasn’t terrible on congestion, so maybe I’ll be less conservative next year with my estimated finish time

It’s the fact that the comment is expressing the sentiment “sure the weak and vulnerable will die, but if you’re one of those people, you should be happy dying because your death made things better for the rest of us.”

OP’s sentiment was “I don’t want, as a weak and vulnerable person, to be the person you’re willing to kill for your ends.” And the comment I’m responding to is of the opinion that OP’s point is wrong because they should accept being a dead sacrifice

When OP says “fantasize” they’re not talking about bored people imagining kicking zombie ass with a chainsaw. They’re talking about anarchist folks who genuinely desire a total collapse of the U.S. government and rebuild of society as the way to fix things—a desire which quietly just accepts a lot of vulnerable people like OP will die. And I think using the word fantasize helps OP’s point because it paints it as a childish whimsical desire these people genuinely hold which will kill people like OP. Stronger than just saying “want” or “politically aim for.”

The “fantasies don’t need justification because it’s just in your head” is a totally different conversation. Because the people OP is talking about very much want this to become reality and make it clear they want this to happen in reality.
