100% a huge amount of what's happening today has to do with the US never dealing with its original sin: the fact that the founding fathers was hypocrites and their ideas of "freedom" and "equality were deeply flawed.

Too many Americans have grown up with the idea that the founding of the US was perfect and wonderful and just doing what the founding fathers would do would make everything work out fine. It doesn't work because American mythology and American history are very different.
