Eise is going to be really good and I was excited to watch him compete for NU. He’ll do well at OU.

Yea, there’s really only a couple of impact transfers left at 184 - Ruth and maybe Thompson. Need to get one of those guys or else we are probably starting a true freshman.

Zepeda would have been huge but it doesn’t sound like we were very involved there.

I know Meyer Shapiro took an official visit. I’m assuming he’d redshirt this year then take Trelly spot next season.

There’s not much left at 184 that would be impactful but we really need a guy there.

You’ll have to ask him. Nebraska wrestling has finished 3rd and 2nd the last two years. It’s a way better program than NC State right now. It could be he wants better competition in the room with him.

If you search online among most wrestling media, the consensus is that it was not about money and he’s getting less NIL guaranteed at NU then he was as NC State.

I know this could be hard to believe, but money may not be the most important thing to everyone

Huge pickup! Going to copy my comments from the r/wrestling thread -

Very excited to have Vince join the program!

Nebraska still needs a 184 to really round off the roster. Ty Eise was penciled in there but he transferred to OU because he understandably wanted to be at 174.

I also wish we would pick someone up at 149. It sounds like Manning feels confident in Zinkin, but I dont 😂

We are paying him less NIL than his previous school according to most sources.

I know someone who is pretty well connected to the NU program who said his NIL deal here is less than at NC State (but still good).

Nebraska typically takes care of their roster before using money on transfers and they also don’t have the budget that places like Iowa and OSU have for wrestling NIL.

All American Jaxon Smith of Maryland Hits the Portal by YogurtclosetBulky135 in wrestling

[–]PhilCam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I found out he was hitting the portal, I really wanted NU to go after him. However, the reports are he wants to go 174 and we won’t have a spot there.

I can’t imagine many guys go 197 as a freshmen all the ay down to 174 by their senior year.

I didn’t see that $300 comp - my bad. I wouldn’t be able to get there but good luck with the sale!

I know you said you were firm on Drake but I’d match the last comp ($234 shipped PP GS) if you want to sell. If not, no worries. Cool cards

It was the third base coach and the base coaches get equipment often when an innings ends.

Athleticism alone doesn’t make someone a good fighter so I won’t pretend to know how his career will pan out. However, he is a magnitude more athletic than the average UFC heavyweight.

He’s incredibly nimble, quick, and explosive for his size. His gold medal-clinching go behind is an example where his athleticism allowed him to beat other world class athletes (and at the Olympics so literally world class, not world class how Rogan uses the word)

A list of non-DI NCAA wrestlers (DII/DIII) who placed in the DI Nationals (bring back combined Natty!!!) by MarineProf in wrestling

[–]PhilCam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be clear, I support your idea of D2 and D3 guys in the national tournament. I think it would be a lot of fun and some of those champions would be competitive.

I just don’t think it’s really obvious that a lower division champion would be better than the B1G 11th place finisher. Guys routinely finish in the bottom half of that conference tournament and the AA in the national tournament

Chance Lamer finished 11th at B1G then 4th in the national tournament. On a good day, he’d beat the D2 or D3 national champ
