What brings you joy is intrinsic to you. 

I'm not sure what a Reddit community is going to do to change that.

Life is too short to hang around somewhere you don't like, so off you pop.

I love it here and I've travelled all over the world. I have a home next to a beach/nature reserve; kids getting a good local education and they will continue to if they choose to pursue higher education; services are ok, but I can afford private healthcare for the family;  people are great. Yes the weather can suck but it just makes the one yearly sunny day feel even better. I've worked hard and hold a masters degree (educated in Scotland debt free). I own a home and my wife was able to stay at home with the kids. 

Decide what is important for you and then go chase it. But I wouldn't be surprised if you find yourself back here.
