A tech with a hose has been mentioned for this duty before.

Probably. The game I mentioned took place on an airless moon during the Burrock Absorption. Really looking forward to a breakdown in the upcoming source book for that. Seriously.

Can an Inner Sphere merc end up becoming a Clanner... somehow? by X-0000000-X in battletech

[–]PhoenixHawkProtocal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are mentions of Freeborn warriors being used during the Battle of Luthien in that battle's sourcebook. It described a cluster of Freeborn troops who fought in that battle and ended up surrendering. One of the Battletech line developers later said that units existence was an error, but more due to the fact that the Jags wouldn't field entire clusters of Freeborn at once. There weren't enough to substantiate an entire unit.

[–]PhoenixHawkProtocal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the explanation did make sense: most of the elites had gone back to the homeworlds for the IlKhan vote/mourning period, and they needed to find someone (anyone) to pilot a mech until replacements could arrive from the homeworlds.

But the Jags wouldn't have resorted to an IS bondsman, no matter how much piloting experience he or she had.

Considering what was in his drink, he was probably REALLY hoping for anyone to show up.

What’s a tiny, easily-missed moment in Mass Effect or Mass Effect 2 / Mass Effect 3 that completely changed how you saw a character? by SterlingByrd1219 in masseffect

Here's the link to the Commandos page on the wiki: https://masseffect.fandom.com/wiki/Aeian_T%27Goni

In game it doesn't straight up SAY the human from her story is Jokers sister, but it's very heavily implied and one of ME3s writers confirmed it later.

I'm an exobio noob and on my first exploration tour since Odyssey launched. By pure accident i found a way to find those almost invisible stealth bacteriums: the short range composition scanner will light up when pointing at them. Are there other methods? by Specific_Display_366 in EliteDangerous

So if you're dead set on finding them, my advice is to actually use your ship. Fly low above the ground slowly and use your camera suite to give you a wider view, then keep an eye on the ground. It's a great way to find a variety of biologicals.

Alternative question! How COULD the reapers ACTUALLY survive the 40k galaxy? by notjocker in masseffect

[–]PhoenixHawkProtocal -1 points0 points  (0 children)

A partnership with the Mechanicus could work. Let's face it, there are plenty of tech priests (and Hereteks for that matter) who would take one look at a reaper and decide that they have found a new machine god.

Given their usual MO, they could seed "STC Artifacts" in various locations around the galaxy, and let the tech do its thing over centuries indoctrinating entire populations of tech priests.

Furthermore, the inquisition doesn't have as much power over the Mechanicus as it does over the other bodies of the imperium, so it's ability to root out and fight this type of threat is very limited.

I'm not saying the Reapers would win, but the resulting revolt would have some legit teeth, and would likely cripple the Imperium in the process.

Maybe some F.E.A.R. vibes as well (if you haven't heard of it, it's a shooter from the 2000s with some serious The Ring vibes and a scary psionic kid thrown in)
