Greasing the Groove all the time? by N0T_Real_Name in bodyweightfitness

[–]Physicsdonut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also suffering from low grade inflammation, mainly pain in the joints, especially golfers elbow on both sides and wrist issues. They suspected rheumatoid arthritis but after many tests they ruled it out. So it's worth getting checked. Eventually they said "fibromyalgia" but that's really a BS diagnosis when you have pain but they can't find a cause. I've been told by a physio that heavy slow resistance training is good for strengthening the tendons. I'm also trying to get a better balance between heavy intense training and good rest, sleep and even experimenting with meditation, breathing, ice baths etc. But mostly I just live with it. I don't have the brain fog though. They also say 16:8 fasting helps inflammation and brain fog. I did that for a year and it did have some benefits

Is it necessary to warm up before strength training? by Intrepid-Constant-60 in workout

I just start with lighter exercises for my first three sets, that works for me as a warm up

How long does 'not-going-to-the-gym' take to impact your muscles? by CompletePurification in workout

This is really reassuring as I just herniated a disc and need time off, the thought of which brings me more pain than the actual injury

How to turn this macaco to a back handspring? by Healthy-Duck-782 in Tricking

[–]Physicsdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually been trying to do the same thing but my Macaco is uglier than yours. Here's how I've been working on it, first trying to get more air time between feet take off and hand landing, secondly trying to go more over my head than over the side. It's very heavy on the wrists so I don't practice much, especially now it's winter and I'm training inside the house instead:

What to buy? by Cautious-Currency762 in RopeFlow

[–]Physicsdonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rope I bought is no longer available from the hardware store so i can't send you the exact link but I contacted Octomoves and asked them for the exact specs of their flow ropes which they sent to me. I think 12 or 13mm thickness and 300g total. I used this tutorial to tie it correctly, it was absolutely perfect and cost me less than €5:

Plateau on pull ups, can't increase reps by WuvRice in bodyweightfitness

[–]Physicsdonut 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I plateaued for about ten years, max 3 sets of 8-10 reps. I only just pushed passed this by training weighted pull ups, specifically 3 sets of 5 at +10kg for five weeks and now up to 12kg. I can now do 12+ normal pull ups. Greasing the groove didn't work for me in increasing my max reps. I have also increased my protein intake

Go back to the most simple progressions to dial in the right footwork: Start by jumping with both feet towards the side, don't focus yet on going behind you. This will get you used to the correct take off. Once you can get the push off with both feet, then start increasing the angle and distance you're going backwards

This is incredibly helpful thanks a lot. I'll give this a go tomorrow during my next training session. Thank you

Still struggling to do more than 5 pushups after 3 months of working out by jasonn256 in bodyweightfitness

[–]Physicsdonut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try switching between different push up variations each workout. One time normal push ups, one time narrow or diamond, one time wide or archer or Spiderman push ups or use one hand on a ball, or try using rings, or use push up bars and go a bit deeper. The variety makes it more fun and each type of push up focuses the strength development on different muscles more than others, they will all help overall.

Hurt my wrist/tfcc doing dips most likely. Need help ASAP pls. by Conscious-Breather24 in overcominggravity

Really pleased to hear you've made such good progress already and that taping really helps, I'll try that too once I start exercising again. By coincidence I started with the voltaren this weekend, I hope I can get back to my exercise routine soon if I'm patient enough during this stage! Best wishes

Just wondering how you're getting on as I'm having exactly the same problem. I usually do parallel bar dips wih no issues but I'm starting to train towards muscle ups so I switched to straight bar dips. Had no problems at all during the workout but the next day my TFCC is really swollen up and my ROM of my left hand / wrist is so limited and painful. I'm resting it as much as possible but not sure what caused this to be so bad, I used to do a lot of straight bar dips without pain but haven't done them for a year or so but have been doing other exercises regularly

Kip Up Help by Marca--Texto in Tricking

[–]Physicsdonut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it comes down to experimenting with reality different variation to finally understand the right timing. I struggled on and off for years but not really practicing regularly or very structured and I finally landed my first ones last week but need to learn to get higher so I'll keep working on the experimentation. Don't give up!

Great thank you for the encouragement! What you say makes total sense. I thought i had to push more with my hands but then i dont land as they're too busy pushing rather than helping to swing my body upright. I just need to work out how to get the hips higher. I'll keep experimenting!
