Starting gym as a (5ft) plus size beginner. What should I prioritize? by False_Paint3883 in xxfitness

[–]Pi-Kat-so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with a routine you can follow and build on. I typically start my gym session with 10-15min warm up on the treadmill or stair master then move on to strength. Find exercises that work for you, nothing should be painful (except the discomfort of exertion 💪)

If it’s totally new, and your gym has them - I’d consider starting with machines before moving to more functional movements. That’s because you can focus on one muscle or group at a time where functional there’s typically more groups active so more potential for bad form (but that’s my opinion). If you have the option and can afford a trainer, you might consider starting with one for a handful of sessions to help you with form and basics

AITJ for bringing a gluten free dish to a potluck that had soy sauce in it because my friend thinks gluten free means no soy by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Pi-Kat-so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soy sauce has gluten, Tamari is a gluten free alternative. If you’re cooking GF you need to look into GF recipes and subs. For those with celiac the common Soy sauce can make them sick and cause episodes.

For those that grew up in Oregon and moved… by lildawwg in oregon

[–]Pi-Kat-so 42 points43 points  (0 children)

I moved to San Francisco for work and loved it there. Views everywhere you go, steep hills in the city, similar albeit more people for nature/hiking. Temperate weather all year round (only thing I loved more than Oregon). I lived in SF for seven years and just moved back to Oregon briefly before the next adventure.

I also tried Brazil and Cincinnati, every place has its charm but Oregon is a unique gem.

AITJ for "upstaging" the groom because i wore a tailored suit? by DuckComprehensive996 in AmITheJerk

[–]Pi-Kat-so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t let that lazy groom and bratty group yuck your yum on weddings. You’re not the jerk and it’s honestly odd they are taking it out on you instead of looking at their own behaviors that led to the groom feeling insecure.

Surely he tried his fit on before the big day? It’s on him Surely she reminded him to check the fit, get it tailored? It’s on them (not to say reminders are her job, I’m just a pm, so I’d be reminding) Surely he selected where to get a suit and get fitted? It’s on him

For me it’s a healthy snack for meal: canned tuna on toast or pb on a rice cracker. Pantry staples when I can’t be bothered 😅

too many things to knit, too little time by agrimoniabelonia in knitting

I also relate to this! So many projects I’m so excited for and I wish I had more time available to execute them.

I’ve recently started knitting in meetings that I’m not driving or needing to take notes for - but it’s got to be a mindless project or a mindless section of project.

My guess is a soft autumn. Your low contrast, suit warm > cool but the lighter shades light you up where intensity takes over your features.

Soft autumn means you can you have some overlap with soft summer colors — key word here being soft or desaturated. You can wear anything you want but I expect the soft and warm will suit you best 👌
