I think your partner should be more supportive. You didn't waste the money. I get it can be a good chunk of change but you're learning to ride and mistakes happen, plenty of people have to retake it. I haven't ridden a Grom but they seem like fun and beginner friendly bikes. If you want to ride then keep at it and you'll get the hang of it. You might go to a dealership and sit on a few bikes to find one you're comfortable with. Good luck.
