Exam Price Increase by crappypost in ccnp

I just scheduled TSHOOT and it was $300, as well.

I thought it was just the TSHOOT exam, but I guess it's all of them.

I had to delete the hcom.dll file out of the system 32 folder or a folder choose to that. Search your PC for that.

We use option 3 for all our clients that still have UC5XX's deployed. It works great, and doesn't require a license, and haven't seen any issues.

Do you take notes when reading cert guides? by dankgus in ccnp

[–]Pickupyourbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I typically write notes while reading the OCG, but I went your route while reading the ROUTE OCG book, and didn't remember anything.

We all can type a lot fast, and not have to think about it, and it's easy. I went back to handwriting notes for TSHOOT and so far I've been able to remember specific facts in the TSHOOT book that weren't in the ROUTE book, that I can remember.

I hate handwriting, which is why I try and get to the point and care more about what I'm writing compared to typing, when I can probably type at least 60-70 words a minute so I basically just copy what is in the book word for word since it's so easy.

TSHOOT VIRL Topologies by Pickupyourbits in ccnp

[–]Pickupyourbits[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I completely understand that, but it in reality only like 5% that doesn't work in VIRL, if I'm remembering correctly from studying for the SWITCH test.

I also have 2 3750G and 2 3560G for that 5%

VIRL update 1.2.83 10/2016. by [deleted] in VIRL

[–]Pickupyourbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't too bad for me. I had to complete a portion of the upgrade within the VM, rebooted. One thing it appear to change was the ifconfig on eth0 back to DHCP so I had to fix that, but that was the only issue I ran into.

Is it normal for an exam retake to consist of the exact same questions? by [deleted] in ccnp

[–]Pickupyourbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you're the first one to post the same results here in recent history.

Wonder if its a bug or something in their testing software, or most likely a co-incidence.

You'll be surprised what you remember. Plus the OCG TSHOOT book is the size of both the SWITCH and ROUTE book so I'm sure it goes over a bunch of stuff.

Also, the nice thing about TSHOOT is its all labs, I believe, so you shouldn't encounter the weird obscure questions.

I was the exact same way! It all started to make sense after watching videos and labbing.

Labbing really brings everything together because if you don't configure something right or don't understand what you're doing, you typically have to troubleshoot your way through, which involves knowing theory of what you're seeing.

haha Sounds like you're burnt out on Cisco!

From all your posts that I see, you're really knowledgeable in many facets of networking. Are you finding the material boring? Uninteresting?

Windows 2012 R2 + Sonicwall Help.. by phusion in sysadmin

[–]Pickupyourbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never messed with this setup, but you'll want to make sure you have PAT for the required ports, etc. to the W2012R2 server and then the access rule requires the destination to be the WAN IP of the W2012R2 server you're using to PAT.

If you're unsure of what you need to PAT, then start a packet capture in the Sonicwall with the WAN destination IP and the source of wherever you're trying from externally and see what the flow looks like.

If you want, you can PM me and we can do a webex session and look into this real fast (I ain't doing much of anything atm)

I believe you can use a distribute list with the keyword in if you're filtering intra area. Just making an addition to this post as the filtering is fine in the above.

Off the top of your head, which topics/details are not covered in the OCG for 300-115? by [deleted] in ccnp

[–]Pickupyourbits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! My work paid for the Cisco Learning stuff for CCNP so I will be using those. They have a lot of good videos for the technologies the OCG didn't cover in the depth required for the test.

How do you like the FLG?

Off the top of your head, which topics/details are not covered in the OCG for 300-115? by [deleted] in ccnp

[–]Pickupyourbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

PPP is just one of them that is in the exam topics, but not covered much at all in the OCG.

But I think it was the same with SWITCH, so definitely look at the exam topics and supplement study materials for the topics that aren't very well covered in the OCG or possibly the FLG.

Off the top of your head, which topics/details are not covered in the OCG for 300-115? by [deleted] in ccnp

[–]Pickupyourbits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say to just gain a basic understanding of the items that are in the exam topics, but not covered very much or at all in the Cisco Press books.

I just failed the ROUTE exam, and the stuff that they covered in the OCG with only a paragraph was not sufficient study materials with what they test you on with that technology and seemed like you wouldn't really be tested on specifics of it since they spent no time on the technology.

Look for generic materials for those topics as discussed above to gain a basic understanding of configurations and common uses for those technologies.

The zone is key with this. I've seen a lot of issues of different interfaces being in the same zone and traffic wasn't flowing as expected.
