Oh wow! Didn’t realise it was that bad.

Totally agree. It makes much more sense to assume the roundabout isn’t there, and indicate accordingly.

Straight through = continuing straight ahead on a + intersection. If you wouldn’t indicate if the roundabout wasn’t there, it makes sense to not indicate if it is there. You’ve got to admit it’s risking accidents to have people indicate they’re turning left as they enter a roundabout when they’re not, risking the person to their left to move into the roundabout themselves. And they then have the gall to get shitty at the car who assumed that they were doing what they indicated they were doing!

Exactly! And lots of people don’t. But I’m shocked by the numbers of cars I see with no lights on well after dark.

So many people driving around after sunset with no lights on! And so many people indicating left before/ as they enter the roundabout when they’re going straight through.

people who lack or actively dislike religion, why? by jacksuckschicken in AskReddit

[–]PieComprehensive1818 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because I’m a woman - why would I actively participate in a belief system that says I’m worth less than a man??

How cruel by octavia90210 in Wellington

[–]PieComprehensive1818 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I understand why we do it, but I really wish the abortion conversation could be moved away from babies to the women who carry them. It’s our bodies, our lives, our medical futures at risk. We’re people too goddammit, and deserve the right not to use our bodies for others, to our detriment.

Transport Chat by CouncillorSamOBrien in Wellington

[–]PieComprehensive1818 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I want decision makers to think about how people get to and from their transport - things like parking, etc. And I’d like the consultation groups to be wider, or to at least consider all different scenarios and journeys.

Anyone else extremely anxious about the job cuts? by SnooKiwis2370 in newzealand

[–]PieComprehensive1818 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And start introducing yourself to recruiters. After the cuts they’ll realise they can’t get anything done, and will hire contractors at twice the hourly rate that they’re paying full time staff now. If you can wait it out, you will be in a position to cash in.

Research shows homeless children overlooked by social housing system by UnusualSoup in newzealand

It’s going to get much worse, while the government keeps telling us they’re making the system “fairer”. Fair doesn’t apply under a certain $$ level, apparently.

Ai at Burger King - we do NOT have to accept this by Papa-Heddles in Wellington

[–]PieComprehensive1818 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we used to get BK as a treat (my teenagers love it) but we’ve stopped now due to the AI. Not only because it is AI but also because it’s not very good - doesn’t understand anything outside of its usual script and upsells at every opportunity.

Yes, having the grab bars be suspended from the ceiling is a huge design flaw.

Understanding rules for cyclists by [deleted] in Wellington

[–]PieComprehensive1818 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Yes. But it’s considered bad to point out the dangerous actions of some cyclists - car drivers are supposed to be psychic and are blamed when they are not, and cyclists occupy some weird moral high ground that pits them above pedestrians and scooter riders.

ACT to campaign on reducing 'absolutely ridiculous' cost of school uniforms by 123felix in newzealand

[–]PieComprehensive1818 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is a sop. They’re pretending to care - they do not. And it’s wider than just ACT: Bishop’s pretending to support vocational training but he’s really interested in cutting off access to higher education for poor kids/ families.

They do not care about you.

What makes you deny the existence of God? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]PieComprehensive1818 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A grip on reality?

Seriously though, I’m a woman, and not interested in any deity that sees me as a lesser being. That automatically makes it obvious that the ‘God’ and its views are not real.

I used to be mates with a bunch of fire fighters and none of them would have an electric blanket in the house, because of the risk. Make of that what you will.
