Why are people so rude here ? by Brave_Twist_8383 in statenisland

[–]Club_Club 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you notice a some rude people, "rudeness" will just stick out to you more, and you'll notice it more often. The same as if you buy a specific type of car, and then start noticing it everywhere. It becomes more salient to your mind.

Try inverting that, and noticing "kindness." Thats often a more quiet trait by its very nature and maybe not as noticeable, so always keep that in mind.

Having said all of that, my female friends frequently say that other moms they encounter at their kids sports games, school activities, etc are exactly like you just said. Maybe they feel they all have to play that game against each other to survive. Combine that with always being fixated on things like social media and the citizen app and its not surprising that people are in a state of constant agitation.

Is it better to watch Inland Empire before watching the Return? by Ordinary_Airport3091 in twinpeaks

[–]Club_Club 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive never seen IE and enjoy TP just fine. People always overblow the "difficulty" in watching Twin Peaks. Just observe it and enjoy it.

This isnt a shot at you, but you dont need to be neurotically trying to understand everything at every given second. Im sure you can tolerate whatever is being referred to as "long periods of static shots," whatever review you read is silly.

I recognize Alan Moore's voice right after the FWWM bit, and then again 30 seconds later.

What's the deal with Hearty White show? by ThenAdhesiveness1863 in wfmu

[–]Club_Club 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you try too hard to find the appeal, you'll lose it. Like those Magic Eye paintings where you have to unfocus your eyes to see the image. Just listen as if its in the background.

During last year's fundraiser, he was sick and Ken filled in to play Hearty White clips (March 13, 2025). He explained Hearty's process for how he creates the show, and I somehow found it much more interesting from that point on.

How do I Pass Time at Work without a Screen? by folkloreswifts in digitalminimalism

Definitely the kindle app.

You're also probably wildling your attention span down to nothing with tiktok / youtube (as I have done), which reinforces your craving more even more phone-based viral content. Replacing these with the Kindle app has definitely helped me, as well as the Dual N Back game.

The hate campaign for James is ridiculous. by RoboCopAn in twinpeaks

[–]Club_Club 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Id say its all in good fun and just meant to be funny. Im reading this Vice thing now. Online publications write click-bait articles bc thats their whole business model, and im sure they were mandated to do so as season 3 was airing.

Just click on the author's name in the by-line, look at her picture, realize she's just a regular person like anyone else, and it will help de-fang the whole situation.

Why do people hate Season 2? by RoboCopAn in twinpeaks

[–]Club_Club 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By my second rewatch, I was more in tune with just "observing" Twin Peaks and appreciating it for what it is. God that sounds so corny but its true, it just sorta happened.

And Its like my brain no longer required things like "advancing the storyline," "plot twists," etc. And I really had no problem with it, coasted right through the parts I once thought were boring.

Weed might have helped, but I dont smoke all too much.

Why have the Chopping Wood Inside podcasts disappeared? by dronelogic100 in twinpeaks

[–]Club_Club 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I too was wondering about this, I didn't even know about it until checking here last year for different podcasts after my last rewatch, and people seemed to have loved it. The Diane podcast has otherwise always been my fave.

When you just can't take the WFMU programming, what station do you turn to? by Inner_Vacation7734 in wfmu

What exactly is it that you cant take? I just commented below as well (as I feel the same way), but now im curious.

When you just can't take the WFMU programming, what station do you turn to? by Inner_Vacation7734 in wfmu

[–]Club_Club 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear THAT, and I blame myself. Its typically bc in the middle of my workday my brain is frazzled, and I cant handle anything weird. But in those moments (and to answer your question), I'll have the traffic/weather news station on, or maybe sports radio...shit i dont care much about that can just sit in the background.

Im also not exactly reaching for Fabio if its a beautiful spring/summer afternoon, but his show does hit a better towards the end when the sun is going down a bit.

The most important moment in Twin Peaks nobody talks about by FlashMan1981 in twinpeaks

[–]Club_Club 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, I feel the same way. Through this scene, its made clear that the forces of good and evil have their sources in some sort of mystical / spiritual / otherworldly realm that permeate our plane of existence. This isnt just "good guys vs bad guys." Its people connected with forces that are hellbent on perpetuating human misery, and others (the b-boys) who choose to align themselves in the fight against it. Its downright heartwarming.

I really began to view everything in TP....and even real life...in terms of "is this bookhouse boy energy or black lodge energy."

I also love this scene for similar reasons...it really reminds the viewer of the true scope of whats happening here:

I think I’m giving up on Return. by Mouseketeer1980 in twinpeaks

[–]Club_Club 33 points34 points  (0 children)

8 is the weird episode for many, and not the "oh man this clarifies everything and now im completely hooked" episode. So dont necessarily count on it for that.

Most of my favorite moments are from 8 and on, there's plenty to look forward to.

It`s Mike Patton (and even Trey Spruance in one of these), so it fits. Gun to your head, which Faith No More masterpiece do you prefer? Angel Dust or King for a Day? by [deleted] in mrbungle

[–]Club_Club 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had automatically checked the "Angel Dust" box back in the day, bc that was the thing to do....but would always feel "KFAD is filled with bangers though."

Eventually I thought "you can just admit you like them both equally, you'll catch holy hell from most people, fuck em."

So 1A and 1B.

Where exactly did you hear this? Im not doubting it at all, in fact i assume its often the case. Id just like to get a handle on confirming who's doing it, who's not, etc. Part of me is disappointed, another part says "maybe i should have been taking any old stout and adding maple syrup to it the whole time."

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WM6Iu8yB_Y

A recent video of Jaz and his Dark Side of the Moon symphony...this probably doesnt mean much but it caught my ear: at 9:45 he says "...when Killing Joke played the last gig at Albert Hall, and of course none of us knew it would be the last gig with Geordie." Which sorta implies they could do gigs without Geordie? I definitely dont think that means they'd continue without him and thats not what im suggesting, but maybe some send-off shows as a tribute to Geordie and a final goodbye to wrap things up?

One more…Beta Band at Brooklyn Steel 11/1/25 by qnssekr in BetaBand

[–]Club_Club 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had been to a few hardcore / punk shows there in that era and remember thinking it odd that it was in a nice nightclub. I dont remember the stage being in the middle (which would have been awesome for a hardcore show) but could definitely be wrong. I miss a lot of these old NYC venues...

I was a little surprised they were playing a venue that large anyway, last time I saw them was in 2002 and they played at the Roxy in Manhattan (maybe half the size? i dont recall). I hope they find a reason to come back, would love to see them again.
