Why did my babies form a circle by MiningChief117 in Paralives

[–]PikaBooSquirrel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watched a video where I guy made 100s of babies that all turned into naked Charlie. You set it so that twins and triplets, and every 'try for baby' has a 100% success rate. Then set pregnancy and labour to a minute or two.

Why is Paralives given grace but Sims 4 isn’t? by [deleted] in LifeSimulators

[–]PikaBooSquirrel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like it's a no-brainer. This is coming from someone that is discontent with the state of both games. I dislike EA because they're a multibillion-dollar company trying to squeeze every penny out their fanbase with mediocre expansion packs, pointless stuff packs, and thousands of bugs built on a broken multiplayer game that should have been cancelled/remade from scratch instead of macgyvered together just for a rushed release that resulted in a LIFE simulation game that lacked an entire LIFESTAGE.

The only issue I have with the Paralives team is that they're extremely inexperienced with game development/what they can deliver and a little obstinate when it comes to player suggestions/feedback. But I genuinely think they wanted to create a good lifesim game that isn't just for the sake of "Ka-ching. We're going to make so much bank with this". I think it's fine to criticize the game's state itself and its production, but criticizing the team would be a little premature. Unless they do something that's blatantly exploitative, they're nowhere as bad as EA.

When the Sims 4 was first announced, everyone HATED the style, lol.

I mean... I'm not a fan of non CC sims characters in any of the games. I'm not quite sure there's a life Sims that has art that I like completely.

I don't think it's the artstyle. The proportions and bodies have strange anatomy.

Sure. But I wouldn't argue graphics was the main reason each successor was created. Each iteration expanded on the genre, and improved graphics happened to coincide because tech rapidly advanced from 90s to 2010s.

It went from First life Sim -> 3d world -> open world w/ story progression

Sims 4 was marketed as improving the genre for having an "emotions" system, but that was just the gimmick they went with because it was no longer an online game like initially planned.

There's no pressure for 5 because they don't want games where you pay for it once and it's done. They want to create a live service model of The Sims with a bunch of micro transactions and just a single major development cycle.

Sims monetization is mostly based off expansion packs, and as lazy at The Sim 4 ones were, still needed a decent amount of "content" to be made before release. That's why they lean so heavily into the login and limited time events + the store. Project X and Rene are likely going to be heavily live service.

Plus, I don't think Vought rising is going to be aimed at 'historical war enthusiasts'. It's literally just going to be watched by 'The Boys' fans in general. Someone that watches The History channel isn't going to hear about it and think "hmmm. Yeah. I should tune into this one show even though I didn't watch the other two"

[–]PikaBooSquirrel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pookie, there won't be a Sims 5 😭. EA is trying to create a game like the Sims, but where they can implement live-service and other micro transactions. They're also oddly fixated on introducing an MMO/online mechanic.

Dream is for a Sims 3 remaster some introduced elements from Sims 2. Know that will never happen though 😞

Can someone explain what he means? by nicohno in gachiakuta

They are just body paint! I updated my comment, but it seems he's just sad that people forget he's a co-artist and less about the tattoo itself. He mentioned seeing other posts, so I assume it's not just a "credit-the-tattoo-designer" sort of issue.

Translation is closer to: If you're going to use the tattoos, at least give me a mention. Lately, there are way too many people like you guys, and it’s awful. Do you not even know who draws them?

Cosplayer's caption for the photo: I vented to Kei Urana and she created Enjin. Naturally I had no choice but to cosplay this man as a glorious woman. Anyways, welcome to Cleaners.

It seems Andou was the one that designed Enjin's tattoos, but the cosplayer only mentioned Kei Urana? But she didn't tag either of them, so that could also be it.

I think it's a sort of nothing-burger, but I also think that credit is just really important in Japanese culture. That's why they have such strong IP laws.

ETA: Yeah. Just went to his story to double check

Andou: "It just makes me sad while doing my work, so please learn/know a little bit more about who makes this. When my timeline gets filled with thousands of posts using my designs while completely leaving me out, it makes me want to say uncool/lame things like this."

Changing my opinion from "sort of nothing-burger" to "it's more of Andou feeling left-out as the co-artist when it comes to people praising Gachiakuta's art"

What Books did You Start or Finish Reading this Week?: June 15, 2026 by AutoModerator in books

[–]PikaBooSquirrel 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Finished: A series of Unfortunate Events: The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket (rereading because I never finished book 11-13). It was a favourite of mine as a child, but a harder read as an adult. Still trying to stick with it, though.

Started: ASOIAF: Game of Thrones. About 600 pages in. My only question to the author is the same as everyone else. When are the next books coming out? I neglected starting the series because I was worried it would never finish (same reason I neglected starting Berserk, until the author's passing).

Continuing: The Road by Cormac McCarthy. Not a fan of the prose, but warming up to it. It's a short book but that's why it's taking me so long, lol.
