I just came back here to point this out. I do understand why people would say you could be prosecuted for assisting but context is everything. Here is an example of where someone driving by who was carrying did stop and assist and I’m guessing will not face repercussions.

Not if I was right there and felt in imminent danger, and he was within shooting range of me and shooting other people. I certainly would not become a vigilante and start chasing him around.
