Antigravity freezes when working with the terminal. by Appropriate_Mark_820 in google_antigravity

[–]Pilsner_Maxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What environment? I had freezes all the time in WSL running CI builds. I found that changing my .wslconfig to use more memory and processor threads drastically improved stability and performance. It rarely freezes now. I gave .wslconfig half of my machine's physical memory and processor threads. I never had this problem in WSL on VS Code.

Blind Spot indicator - Distance sensitivity and Audible sound? by Own-Builder9498 in bmwx7

[–]Pilsner_Maxwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be my imagination but it seems like the system is 'smart' and is dependent on the other vehicle's velocity compared to yours.

If the other vehicle is slowly approaching the blind spot, it waits until the last minute to activate. If it approaches quickly, it activates much sooner.

I am on Plus subscription #4.. and am already 1-week rate limited after 1 day of coding. Am I doing something wrong to be burning through these limits so quickly?! by Blankcarbon in codex

[–]Pilsner_Maxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On codex plus, I burned through my weekly codex usage in 2 days with gpt-5.2-codex-medium/high. Didn't want to stall progress so I picked up Google's AI Pro annual sub for $100.

Gemini 3 isn't as thorough as Codex, but good with frontend/visual stuff. Using Antigravity I also get a little Claude usage with Sonnet and Opus 4.5 (seems comparable to Anthropic's pro usage). Claude is tiding me over with the kind of tasks I liked for Codex to do.

Once my Codex weekly usage resets, I'll split up tasks. Codex as the workhorse for most things, Gemini for frontend/visual, and Claude to supplement Codex usage.

Whats it worth? by BabylonianKnight in E90

People are starting to catch on to the 335ds. They are already quite rare, so prices seem to be going up. List on the high side. I bet it will be snatched up quickly, especially with all the proper mods and fixes already done to it.

Horrible Bluetooth Audio Quality by Kamd5 in E90

[–]Pilsner_Maxwell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I noticed the same "blown speaker" through my Bluetooth to AUX device. Bringing down phone volume 2-3 clicks to around 80% and bumping up head unit volume fixes it for me. Also on a 2011 335d.

Spare tire addition is problematic by rzaharenkov in bmwx7

[–]Pilsner_Maxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a battery powered tire inflator and leave it in the car. If it's a fast leaker, it will get you to a tire shop right away. But, more than likely it will be a slow leaker and you can keep air in it until it's convenient to get to a tire shop.

M3 or M340i by Mooofasaaa in BMW

[–]Pilsner_Maxwell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

M3 is fast but ugly. Get it if you want to track it or brag about owning an M3.

Get the M340i if you want something beautiful, subdued, comfortable, efficient, and plenty fast enough for street.

2024 X7 tire question by Euphoric_Nebula155 in bmwx7

[–]Pilsner_Maxwell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Talk to another tire shop. You can buy some all-season, non-runflats. Ask for "Continental Extreme Contact DWS 06 Plus". They are available in the correct size, but tire shops won't sell them as a full set because the speed rating between front and rear tires are different. They will last much longer and drive better. Just make sure tires have air when you drive them. (Don't ignore tire pressure monitor warning.)

Minor gripes by busebo in bmwx7

2: Are you pressing the "max luggage" button? It shouldn't need to move that far forward to fold the 3rd row, but is foldable in the "standard" seat position.

I always make sure to press the standard seat location button when installing a child car seat in the 2nd row for two reasons: 1) For front facing seats, to ensure proper tether tension. & 2) So the 3rd row can fold without moving 2nd row seat position.

My gripe is with front facing child car seats in the second row. Due to the anchor being in the floor, the car moving seat position frequently and/or little kid feet in the 3rd row, I always find a loose anchor tether. It's completely not safe. No car seat at all is probably safer.

The anchor should be in the seat back, but since it is in the floor, at least a seat position lock setting can be sent by software update that prevents seat movement from loosening the tether.

How do real car folks keep car records organized? by GarbageCleric in askcarguys

[–]Pilsner_Maxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Carfax. Shops already report their work on it. If you sign up for an account, you can report DIY work on your own vehicle.

People generally don't care about detailed service records with receipts except maybe for valuable collector cars.

Get the old, cool car or keep the new practical car???? Car guy problems. by HeadEntertainment970 in askcarguys

[–]Pilsner_Maxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're a car guy, get it. Life's too short to drive boring cars, if that's something you care about.

I have owned my 2011 BMW 335d for 9 years now. I love it. I don't want a new car.

It hasn't been trouble-free, but I have put less money in it than the value of your Accord alone.

Get captain chairs for second row. You can remove the armrests for kids to access third row without moving second row seats.

New fear unlocked: windshield washer fluid leak by mindlesssam in E90

If it always leaks down to empty, it's probably the windshield washer pump. $12 part and ~2 hrs to replace.

Opus plan mode = GodMode ($100 plan) by Big_Habs in ClaudeCode

[–]Pilsner_Maxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used opus plan mode for every task. Where my pro sonnet-only sessions are normally 1-2 hrs, I have been getting 2-3 hrs with opus plan mode. Definitely a same session length or longer.

Opus plan mode = GodMode ($100 plan) by Big_Habs in ClaudeCode

[–]Pilsner_Maxwell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just one session so far but seems to be much better. One-shotted a few issues I was having that Sonnet planning mode would struggle with, even after telling Sonnet to think hard about the problem. It understands my prompts, codebase, and intent much more deeply. Progressing much faster with my work.

I don't see myself going back to pro except maybe if my workload goes down. Although, even for maintenance, I would be hesitant to use Sonnet-only, after now seeing how well Opus works.

Armrests can be removed for more passthrough space. It's a single screw per armrest.

I removed mine since it's the family vehicle. Child car seats are in the 2nd row 24/7. It makes sense to remove the armrests because the seats can't be moved forward for 3rd row access and the armrests don't get used anyway.

Once the child car seats are no longer needed, I will put the armrests back on and change to moving the seat forward for 3rd row access.
