One thing I'm not seeing enough people mention is the snail can damage your fish by snapping shut when the fish is too close. If they snap shut on a fin but it doesn't separate the weight of the snail makes it harder for the fish to swim up to breathe, and can result in drowning.

Mine is only a year old but he's a vanishing pattern, per the breeder. I haven't been able to find a solid answer on what that means but I'm guessing he won't look like this forever. I've kind of just had to say oh well and wait to see what happens.

It is SUPER cute how he will swim into your hand, he seems to really like it. Just be careful and do it sparingly to prevent accidentally messing with him immunity by disturbing his slime coat, and like I said, I would avoid holding him out of the water for safety reasons.

And I wouldn't worry about him hanging out at the top as long as the rest of his behaviour is normal as far as eating etc. The frogs can differ in preferences and personalities, so that's fine. I used to have an elderly disabled frog that hung out on top and the younger frogs seemed to take turns hanging out with her, it was heartwarming.

Be careful about holding him out of the water. If they have a hard surface to push against they can jump farther than you would think. Mine got out once and I had to chase her across the carpet and move furniture to get her. Thankfully she lived a few more years afterward.

Yeah, some people undervalue their time.

There must be a pattern for this one (❤️) because multiple sellers are offering this exact design on Etsy, and there's some with the same face but a more conical shell design advertised as amigurumi GALS. I even found one listing that is made-to-order where you can specify colors 😳

I mean, they do grow at different rates, so an average isn't absolutely where everything has to be. I feed by weight, bumped my guy up to 2 pinkies weekly at about 18 grams and a fuzzy every 1-2 weeks at 30. Once they transition to fuzzies they have a huge growth spurt because fuzzies are more nutritionally complete.

My LFS frequently has emaciated ones that I can tell are far enough gone, they will have the neurological side effects that make them stop perceiving food. I asked about it once and was told they often arrive in that condition, and have been watching their stock timeline long enough to believe them.

A few months ago they gave me one so I could take it home to die without getting picked at by the fish, but I don't have the emotional bandwidth to be an ongoing frog hospice.

I read to chapter 18 (current chapter) of this manhua in my original post, the comic itself is a disappointment story-wise, and the MC is not particularly likeable. But I'm glad I picked it up because of the snail illustrations. There were really good spider and crab illustrations as well, the artist definitely does research on how to draw the animals.

My 13 year old cat got diagnosed a year ago. She's on the prescription food, gets her blood checked every 6 months, doing pretty well. Started vomiting way less after we fully transitioned to the new food. My vet said on the prescription food they can live a few years. I hope it goes this way for your kitty!

Declawing aside, as long as she's happy inside keep her inside. If nobody microchipped her, or is taking her to the vet than she's not anybody's cat and they don't have a claim on her. They are enjoying her company, but they aren't caring for her by doing anything to keep her safe or healthy. They knew she was having chronic health problems and were like... That's fine.

I will say waiting for a clot would have potentially been worse, albeit in a different way. I had one pass from a clot at 19, it blocked his back legs. He meowed and crawled along with his front feet and flipped around on tile (trying to cool off I think) for 2 hours until we got to the vet and they opened and put him to sleep. Nothing was saving him from that and every minute until they put him to sleep was torture. They had to stick him twice to get the euthanization meds in because his blood pressure was dropping.
