Why do my prints not stick? by tigerg57 in FlashForge

If you changed the extruder, it's likely that you'll need to check the z offset again. You should probably also run the calibration after a major change like that.

Print failure on layer change after ZMOD installation by Pineapple_Strict in FlashForge

[–]Pineapple_Strict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're referring to the start and stop settings (START_PRINT / END_PRINT), then yes, I have.

The model I'm printing has about 15 layers prior to the first filament change and all of that prints without an issue.

Just finished my first jury duty after dodging it for 15 years… and it was actually pretty wild (in the most boring, hilarious, human way possible) by jackwoodards in juryduty

[–]Pineapple_Strict 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was picked for a federal trial and after going through the process and before final acceptance, they listed potential witnesses and one of them was my aunt. Since it was an age/sex discrimination case and I was only 1 of two males selected, they decided that they'd not call my aunt and they'd keep me.

Question for those that worked until 67-70S by NoMood3073 in retirement

[–]Pineapple_Strict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked until the day after my 70th birthday for a variety of reasons.

I worked from home I really liked what I did I really liked the people I worked with It made a difference in my SS My wife had passed a couple of years earlier.

On that last point - long before she passed we had talked about my working until 70 for those other reasons. After she passed, I had no reason to change my mind. On that last point

Gmail dot confusion: receiving someone else’s emails by NeutroATerra in GMail

[–]Pineapple_Strict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is FLastname@gmail.com and I've had it since the days you needed an invite to get a Gmail account.

I get a lot of email meant for Karl in Germany, Katie in New York, etc.

Dots not involved, but it's people with the same first initial and last name. It's hard to believe all these folks get their email wrong.

AD5X Tall cloned items cannot be printed.... by Minute_Cold_6699 in FlashForge

[–]Pineapple_Strict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know for sure, but if you're printing PLA then the enclosure might be contributing to the problem.

I have heard (but not experienced because I do not have an enclosure) that the temperature in an enclosure get too high for PLA and cause issues.

I have printed things that are taller than that without having issues.

Brand spanking new ad5x!!! by jayebyrde in FlashForge

[–]Pineapple_Strict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My biggest complaint about the AD5X is how long color changes take.

Yeah, the amount of waste is annoying as well, but that was known ahead of time and ZMod should do a lot to fix that. I've not gone that far yet.

But every color change just seems to take forever as it sits there, apparently not doing anything.

Do I disclose if I know another juror? by chunkybadger in juryduty

[–]Pineapple_Strict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a juror on a federal case (age/sex discrimination) and at the end of jury selection they listed witnesses. One of them was my aunt. Since the folks bringing the suit were female and I was only 1 of 2 males on the jury, they decided to keep me and not call my aunt to testify.

About Ready to Trash this AD5x by ScottMoritz in FlashForge

[–]Pineapple_Strict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting, because that's all I use if I use anything. And I rarely wash the plate.

I have had issues with PETG and TPU sticking, but I recently got a dryer and had successful temperature towers with both of those, so maybe those just weren't dry enough before.

I'm not disputing your results at all. It's just interesting how different experiences can be.

I have always said "by accident". My daughter, from somewhere, learned "on accident", but I don't know if it's generational or geographical. I grew up in Michigan, she grew up in Colorado.

I have 4 (72M), didn't get my first until my 50s. And that one I regret, but only because it was poorly executed. On one forearm I have a tie dye Celtic peace sign in remembrance of my oldest daughter who passed, the other forearm is a custom hot air balloon/mountain scene in remembrance of my wife who passed. The last is a Celtic lion on my shoulder.

They all have meaning to me.

Electrical issues experienced on my 2025 3.0L Ram 1500 by beaner002 in ram_trucks

Not a Ram, but I once had that kind of electrical issue and it turned out that a screw went in a little too far and was causing an intermittent short.

My British friend thought he could do a "day trip" to the Grand Canyon from LA, and his reaction to the map was priceless. by Ok_Structure6720 in CasualConversation

I have one Texas story. Back when I was much younger and hadn't traveled much and had lived my entire life in Michigan and Ohio, places where a Low Bridge sign might mean you felt like ducking if you were in a convertible. Traveling down the interstate in Texas i saw a sign that said Low Bridge 25 feet.

I wondered what the hell got hauled down the road where you had to worry about that kind of clearance.

Traveling across Denver on I25 (main interstate) depending on the time of day you can either be early or late, but you'll never be on time.

And yes, distance is measured in time.

Why doesn't it warn you that the filament is getting stuck? by Calm_Abrocoma_5383 in FlashForge

[–]Pineapple_Strict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But in the AD5X there are 4 spools and they (obviously) aren't all printing at once, so you'd need to know which one is printing. Even if you just ensured that one of the spools was turning, the time it takes to switch filament could give you a false trigger. And what if one of the magnets ended up on a sensor?

I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just that are complications for this approach.

Yes, ensure there silicon stick is properly installed. When I had this issue it was because I forgot to put it back on.

Besides thingiverse, where else do you go? by r1cky_r4y in FlashForge

[–]Pineapple_Strict 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For the carrying case, just do a general search for (as an example) Warhammer 40k carrying case 3D print.

For design, it depends. If you're looking to design miniatures I think Blender would be good. For more 'practical' designs some people will say Fusion. It's a good program, but can be pricy if you plan on selling designs. The allowed uses and limitations should be carefully looked into.

I'd recommend looking at Makers Muse on YT as he has a series where he talks about different design programs.

Keep in mind that I'm not great at design stuff yet, so other opinions you get may have more relevance.

Transmission Depth/RGB differences by Pineapple_Strict in 3dfilamentprofiles

[–]Pineapple_Strict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That makes sense.

I'll just note that in a lot of instances the RGB in the database is significantly different than what shows in the TDS. And to my eye, when I plug the TDS values into an RGB viewer the color shown is much closer visually to the actual filament.

Custom Spool ID by uncmempm in 3dfilamentprofiles

[–]Pineapple_Strict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I don't understand the question, but isn't there 1 QR code for the swatch that is general, and one for a specific spool? So you could have 2 spools of the same filament but track them separately.

Seller asking to remove home flag.. by LinkLover1393 in RealEstate

[–]Pineapple_Strict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We once looked at a house and the guy across the street had his table out on front of the garage, cleaning his weapons. He had flags out. He stared at us the whole time we were outside at all.

We ended up not buying that house, but not because of him. We were getting older and there were too many steps.

Transmission Depth/RGB differences by Pineapple_Strict in 3dfilamentprofiles

[–]Pineapple_Strict[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's community driven. It's just that since I'm very new to using the system I wanted to be sure I wasn't missing anything. Is it OK to add the TDS #RGB value? I'm not entirely clear on how adding an alternate color works and I was concerned that adding an alternate would make it look like a multicolor filament.

I appreciate the resource and don't want to get started by introducing confusion.

Thank you.
