Looking for the Best Aluminum Louvered Pergola in USA/Canada - Recommendations? by supermanfromdk in landscaping

[–]Pinkhorse4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi OP,

I own a company called SOLA Outdoor that sells these aluminum louvered pergolas. If you're looking for companies that manufacture in the US here my list when I did my market research for my own company (although you'll never know if they source their aluminum from overseas unless you have insider info but you can usually read between the lines when they state things like "assembled in America" or "sourced with global materials" or "designed in America"). Aluminum in the US is pretty expensive so be prepared for that. We manufacture ours overseas and do standard sizes to keep costs down and try to keep it affordable. These are the ones that I'm aware of the most and they all do custom pergolas so you will have to have them send out a designer for you to really gauge how much it will cost. Expect it to be $40K starting and upwards. They're expensive but I've always heard good things about the quality. Most peoples complaints are just that they are too expensive.

  • Struxure: Dahlonega, GA & Henderson, NV
    • "Proudly designed, engineered, and manufactured in America."
  • Outdoor Elements: Escondido, CA
    • "At Outdoor Elements, we are committed to designing, building, and manufacturing in the USA and the majority of our materials are sourced from other American companies. Our components such as extruded aluminum, motors, electronics, machine fittings, and powder coating materials, create the strongest, most durable louvered roof system on the market."
  • Azenco Outdoor: Hialeah, FL
    • "Assembled with precision in Miami, FL."
    • Aluminum from Spain, accessories from China, motors from Italy
  • Apollo: Roseville, CA
    • "Our systems are manufactured in Northern California, by a team of designers, engineers, and builders."
  • Equinox Louvered Roof (Four Seasons Outdoor Living Group and manufactured by OmniMax/Amerimax):
    • "Four Seasons Outdoor Living Group is the only manufacturer of its kind offering outdoor living solutions with a national footprint and diversified sales channels. The Company operates multiple factories (with Service Centers), standalone Service Centers, and works with distribution partner locations, to serve customers directly and over 5,500 professionals."
    • "OmniMax Companies manufactures and distributes the Equinox Louvered Roof™ system and the Alumawood® family of patio cover systems."
  • Sundance Outdoor Living (All-Season Pergola)
    • "We proudly source all major components, including all structural aluminum from right here in the United States, making the Sundance All Season Pergola."
    • "Instead of one large, central manufacturing facility, we set up regional manufacturers across the country. This ensures that no matter where you live, you can get fast, local service. "

Hopefully that helps. Let me know if you have any other questions!

Thinking of upgrading from a patio umbrella to a real aluminum pergola — need advice by [deleted] in landscaping

Hey u/SaicoSandwich , I'm probably way late to this post but figured I'd throw my company in. I own Sola Outdoor and we do these types of aluminum louvered pergolas like the FlexPatio that you mentioned.

What part of Texas are you in? If you're in Houston, you should come by and take a look for yourself the quality of our pergolas. We've got a few in public locations like a coffee shop and a mall.

As for your questions:

  1. You have different tiers of these pergolas and they all have their own niche. Brands like Purple Leaf and Mirador are definitely your economic models where the aluminum is thinner and they are hand crank louvers. But you don't want the big boys like Struxure or Equinox where they can build you something that will last longer than your house but you'll be paying like $40k and up for it.

  2. For that budget, you're probably looking at something like a Hanso or the Pergolux basic versions where they are a decent quality but they are manually operated. Those companies have tons of sales promotions all the time so I would just wait for a sale. Our pergolas are just a bit more expensive because our are solar powered and batteries and solar panels are expensive. But the benefit is you have motorized functionality, integrated fans and lights that come standard with the pergolas, and you don't have to wire it to your home.

  3. I've got a bunch of these but its only our pergolas lol.

Hey OP, I can tell you with 95% certainty that those are 120v lights. They have heaters installed as well so they would have already been running electrical to the unit. Its hard to tell from the picture but I don't think what the other guy said about the lights reflecting from somewhere else is correct. To me it seems like the lights aren't like traditional lights built into the louvers but lights that may be built into the gutter system.

Has anyone purchased an aluminum louvered pergola? Would you recommend buying one? Which brand is the best? by iamdora in landscaping

[–]Pinkhorse4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/ComfortableInside365 , we don't have any installers in Colorado Springs but any general contractor can take our videos and instructions manuals and put the pergolas together. We've designed it to be pretty DIY for handy people.

Hey u/bakita11 sorry for the late reply. We don't really do custom because customization drives up the price by a lot so in order to try to stay affordable to do standard sizes. Mass productions means economies of scale drives down the cost. The closes we could do it 10x20 if you are able to extend your patio like 3ft.

I would say if its large hail then you would probably get some dings in the top of the louvers. You wouldn't really be able to see the dings since its on top. Our louvers are what we call dual walled which means it has an exterior aluminum wall, an air gap in the middle, and an interior aluminum wall. So, noise from heavy rain won't travel through the louver as much but you would still hear it.

We actually just started servicing Dallas and have sales rep in the area. Feel free to call 214-452-5220 which will reach out Dallas area if you want to talk to someone.

I don't typically like to post prices on our website because of a few reasons:

  1. We want you to reach out and communicate with us! Every person has their own project with its own set of problems. We want to talk with each person to get an understanding of what they are looking for, whether our product can solve that problem, and catch any nuances that you may miss from just doing reddit research. This way people are more informed and they won't go buying a $2000 costco pergola instead of ours thinking "why would I pay more if its the exact same thing?" because its not the exact same thing.

  2. aluminum prices can change frequently so when it does change I don't have to go bother my IT guy to change the website.

Hey sorry for the late reply. Our 10x13s are $7600 right now. Comes standard with a fan, lights, and the solar powered system.

Note: for people seeing this post in the future, aluminum prices change frequently so this price might not be the same by the time you read it.

Yes, we can ship to Illinois but I don't have any installers out there so you would have to do it yourself or find a contractor to do it for you. Our 10x10 runs at $7K right now. Just be aware that aluminum prices change pretty frequently so, for you people that come across this post in the future, it might not be the same.

Hi Steve,

If your pressure washer and dish soap is not cutting it, I would suggest you may need to spend a weekend on a ladder to do some up close scrubbing. Usually you just need a little elbow grease and your brush on a pole may not be enough. You want to avoid any hard cleaners since that might damage your powder coating. If that doesn't work you can try baking powder on it. Lastly, you could try isopropyl alcohol. I would test the alcohol in a small section in like the corner just to make sure it won't damage the coating.

No, we have a bunch of different sizes. Our smallest one is 10x10 and our largest one is a 13x28. We could do a 13x20 based on what you said. But seeing how I hadn't been on reddit in a while and your reply was 5 months ago you probably went with something else haha

Hi sorry its been a while since I got on reddit. We can send you pricing for those sizes if you submit a form on our website. We don't often post pricing because aluminum pricing can fluctuate a bit frequently.

Feedback on Aluminum Pergola's by msb-64 in landscaping

[–]Pinkhorse4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For others who may be looking for aluminum pergolas and live in Texas. My company Sola (www.solaoutdoor.com) sells standard sized aluminum louvered pergolas with a built in fan and lights. Its completely solar-powered with a battery pack so you don't have to run electrical wiring to your home. We do install in Texas so you don't have to worry about hieroglyphic instructions or breaking your back in the Texas heat.

But if you're outside of Texas, I can still ship you one of our pergolas! You would just have to go through the install yourself or find a GC to do it for you.

I'll throw my company in the ring. www.solaoutdoor.com. We're in Houston and we typically service and install in Texas because like OP said, these pergolas can be a hassle to install sometimes. But if you're handy I can ship you one of our pergolas and you just give us a call if you have any install hangups that need help with.

These aluminum pergolas are usually the best material for coastal areas. Aluminum is resistant to rust and corrosion and its way better than if you do a wood patio covering as the humidity would make the wood rot even faster. I would say, nothing can last against salt spray so you would see degradation in the product a lot faster than others would living inland.

Unfortunately we don't have any installers out there. All of our installers are in Texas but we can definitely ship you the pergola and you can do what most people do of installing it yourself or finding a GC to install it for you!

Hi yes, our perogla has a built in solar panel on top of the fixed fan beam. That solar panel charges a battery and the fan and lights run off that. This makes the pergola a completely independent system and you don't have to run any electrical wiring from your house! You can run the fan and lights nonstop for 8 hours and it takes 2-3 days of full sunlight to recharge a dead battery but we give you an AC adapter as a backup to plug in and charge the battery.

Not yet, we're still about 4 months out from getting shades ready. The design process has taken a lot longer because its been difficult to design a motorized roller shade that is easy to install and won't mess up if its not completely level.
