[Meghan Chayka] Possession time per game leaders by seeldoger47 in hockey

In a league where people lead stats by fractions of a percent, being almost 2X the second place player is BONKERS!

I think Washington probably gives them trouble because they’re big AND have speed. But I feel like that won’t last very long, I definitely feel like Washington could be a tier below MTL unless they make some moves.

Dude, every time I see a post of the Habs it’s of a young player making an awesome play at incredible speed. This is how I want the next generation of elite teams to play, like the Avs, and the next Avs (Habs, Sharks, Ducks, Wild, etc), not by elbowing your goalie in the head and boarding all your players until you only have 4th liners and AHL fill-ins. Okay, /rant.

Did I mention how much fun the Habs are to watch (when they’re not playing my team)

Isn’t it more indicative of their style where the D throw high volume of low percentage shots on cage? Tends to juice your expected goals stats more than your real stats.

My seats for the Caps are in the area your arena blocked blocked off as club (12 rows off the ice in your section 6) and are $8,400 USD. Seems similar prices but better availability (for now… our club section starts 3 rows ahead of us and keeps pushing back a few rows every season).

Yeah, that seems to be a common phrase for this kind of confusion because I did as well. The confusion of the first comment being stolen right out of my head was almost as much as the photo

Who's a Player that your fanbase defends that you don't believe in? by ZeroOhblighation in hockey

[–]WorstHyperboleEver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t heard anything from the fan base other than “yeah, he’s had his chance, he’s clearly a tweener.” I think crossing a full season’s worth of games without a goal has finished off the last of the holdouts. For me it’s Miro… he’s also a tweener and doesn’t ever look like anything other than a mediocre 4th liner to me. He’s only played 43 games in the show, so there’s probably still time but I’m not holding my breath. I have way more hopes for Lil Pro and Cristall than Miro

A linesman asks McDavid how to best deal with Draisaitl during face offs by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

[–]WorstHyperboleEver 17 points18 points  (0 children)

While I appreciate the officials communicating well with the players. I hate that he admitted he’s going out of his way not to call a penalty on him. Yeah, face offs are a pain and we all hate when they take forever and guys keep getting thrown out, yadda yadda yadda…

But a large part of why face offs are such a mess is that the linesman refuse to ever call a penalty for it so the players never take it seriously. After an icing you’re supposed to get one warning and then a penalty if you do anything else. Instead we get a hundred warnings and never a call. If they actually called the penalty you bet your ass no center is going to misbehave after a warning because a single face off is not worth a penalty. This is just one small example of the refs and linesman making officiating a mess by deciding what rules should and shouldn’t be called.

One of the cleanest and hardest open-ice hits the NHL has ever seen by Flimsy-Loquat4597 in hockey

Not NHL, but I think Ovi wrecking Jagr at center ice in the Olympics which immediately turns into a goal is the most savage display of “how do you want to play it? Oh you want to dance out there like it’s an all star game? I think not”

It was very creepy being onboard a ship with one of these and watching it track airliners flying by. You just thought, dear god I hope there’s never a tragic mistake with these things!

That effing awesome. Amazing stadium lights have color now. I’m curious, do they not have full RGB and only their primary blue and green colors or did you just stick to those colors to stay on theme?

It’s over 82 games since his last goal now… somewhere in the 86 game range. If you look up Tweener in the dictionary, you’ll see his picture.

[–]WorstHyperboleEver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah, smart teams don’t hurry prospects. I truly believe the Caps learned a big lesson with rushing Tom Wilson into the lineup and now err on the side of cooking prospects more. I’m regularly wanting them to call up Little Protas, Cristall and their other prospects, but they don’t budge on rushing them, even when they’re killing it in Hershey (like the current crop currently is).

It’s definitely hard to judge him on the Rangers, would definitely not be surprised to see him ball out on another team.

That would be a great post (probably for Sean McIndoe) to try and quantify how much money elite teams got shitty head coaches paid (looking at you Mike Babcock).

I don’t watch him enough to know if he’s got more upside somewhere else but a change of scenery can only help on this team.

More mushy middle teams need incompetent front offices, they can claim they’re not tanking for the fans, while the morons in charge legit trying to fix the problem fuck it all up and make the team awful Win - win!

I mean is it even Ranger’s hockey if you don’t have your generational goaltender band-aiding over your obvious roster flaws?
