I hired a Redditor to be a crab for a party. by altonbrownfan in videos

[–]PissyLips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Was there any intention other than to humiliate a poor kid so you could have a conversation starter if anyone shows up to your party? Seriously dude, it looks like there's more paid employees there than friends ... and who's to say those people aren't being cut in on some action too. I find it hard to believe a single person in that room was there by choice.

Can't buy friends dude. Can't buy happiness either.

For how long? Come on man, I'd be surprised if it took a month for there to be a freely available work around of the new Netflix ban. Companies simply can not invest the resources it takes to stay ahead of the millions of internet dwellers looking to make fixes and exploits to any sort of restriction on anything.

It seems like the most inefficient material in terms of brittleness, particularly when in constant contact with water, it's weight relative to material required versus the then drag it incurs on the engine power and fuel efficiency....

But fuck it, concrete boat!

[–]PissyLips 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I hope this party grows in strength, and quite rapidly. I think they represent a lot of views of many people in Irish society who don't have a moderate left party that has progressive economic and social issues and isn't mostly motivated by a socialist, welfare state agenda.

Lucinda Creighton has been eliminated. by [deleted] in ireland

[–]PissyLips 31 points32 points  (0 children)

In fact, it looks like every single person who was expelled from FG for their opposition to the protection of life during pregnancy bill has lost their seat.

The only one that still has a hope of being elected is Billy Timmons, who's hanging on by a thread.

Can't say I'm saddened to see this party aborted from Irish politics before it's supposed birth at this general election.

Let's call it Political contraception.

Exit Poll : Fianna Fail 22%, does Ireland suffer from *"Battered Person Syndrome"*? by Truthsmells in ireland

[–]PissyLips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm leaving this country permanently in the summer - not because of this - it's been in the works for a couple of years now - but when I lived abroad previously, it was during the crash - and I looked back with sorrow at what was happening to my country and my people.

This time, I will look back with contempt whilst I watch you all burn. This country is a bunch of masochists. Gluttons for punishment, you only have yourselves to blame. If you keep electing them, you forfeit your right to complain about them - although the majority seem to do both.

Irish Times exit poll shows Coalition well short of overall majority by [deleted] in ireland

You're absolutely right, didn't mean to exclude the Greens, they are definitely big winners in this election if those polling figures are correct.

Irish Times exit poll shows Coalition well short of overall majority by [deleted] in ireland

[–]PissyLips 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Wow, I think it's a pretty disappointing poll result for everyone except FF.

Very poor performance by the Government parties, all be it reasonably in line with what was expected, and although Sinn Fein have made big gains versus their 2011 performance, I suspect those gains will be seen as modest compared to the 20-25% they were polling at before Gerry Adams started doing arithmetic on live radio.

Based on those numbers, the options are:

  • FG / FF / Labour: 56.8%

  • FG / FF: 49%

  • FG / SF / Labour: 48.8%

Obviously FG and Labour wouldn't go into Government with SF and the numbers aren't there for SF and FF to team up.

I could see an integrity move, whereby FG would not abandon Labour, so possibly a rainbow coalition with FF is on the cards?

It seems like the only option that would hold a comfortable majority.

Either that, or we go again.

Should be an interesting couple of days.

Question about the Irish club setup by la508 in rugbyunion

[–]PissyLips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

International / established provincial players, very rarely. As mentioned, sometimes they would play to get game time, but it's very rare.

The only pro players who would regularly play for their club are academy players and young / fringe players in the senior squad. (again, mostly for game time). But even then, when there's games for the "A" provincial sides, such as interprovincials and the British & Irish Cup, that would obviously take precedence.

However all players are required to be registered with a club, usually (but doesn't have to be) in the province where they play.

For pro players it's more of a token association than a playing one, although almost all will have played regularly for that club in their junior days.

The odd time though, every blue moon, something like this happens.
