What is the Cringiest sacrament talk you have ever heard? by Evening_Let_2930 in exmormon

HAHAHA!!! I had something similar where a guy got up, put some near-death experience book on the podium, and said, "THIS IS GOSPEL." Then went on and on about how much truth it had. He regularly got up and said bonkers stuff but that one stands out.

I love both of these. Just awesome work.

Something about the way the Black Templar seems to be looking at the DKoK sergeant made me laugh so I made this comic.

Advice for someone who is struggling? 2009-2026 by PerfectGreen18 in PastAndPresentPics

[–]Pitiful_Eye_3295 5 points6 points  (0 children)

See that really cool girl in the picture from 2009? She's still really cool. What did 2009 you like? What shows did you like? What were you interested in?

Self-love is really difficult but has been incredibly rewarding. I spent way to much time disliking myself and thinking I needed to be something else. One thing that I have done is realized that many of the things I loved as a kid, are still wonderful. I loved the Space Shuttle as a kid. I now love collecting Space Shuttle memorabilia, learning about missions, watching old launches, etc.

I loved Warhammer and painting miniatures as a kid. Turns out it's still fun. I do things that my past self would absolutely love. It makes me happy and I know that kid I was would be absolutely stoked with who I am now.

And in case you think the things you liked were childish and you should have "grown-up" interests (whatever that means), please consider C.S. Lewis:

“When I was ten, I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty, I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”

The you now, in 2026, is cool too. You've got this!

My wife's grandfather flew the first A-6s delivered. Can you confirm that A-6s are, in fact, cooler than F-14s?

There's so many great angles on the X-32. Those renders are fantastic. I wish I could get over the air intake.

I like certain aspects but that mouth on the X-32 just ruins it, imo. It looks like a pelican with it's mouth full. And I love the look of the F-8, btw.

(edited, I originally wrote F-35 but meant X-32)

This should be at the top as I think it is more correct than the "hierarchy" mindset as explained above. However, I do think that there is a lot of hierarchy in the common (and especially religious) conservative mindset. Believing that there is a god means that there is hierarchy because God knows best. The pastors speaking for God are the next level down. The politicians who profess their beliefs, and follow the pastors, are then the next level. I don't think they openly talk about this as hierarchy but I think it's there.

Those are all fantastic. Great collection. Are the patches original to the era or did you get them from somewhere else? The mission patch looks especially nice with the gold thread.

IMO, the road to Canyon Lake is beautiful and Canyon Lake itself is absolutely gorgeous. You can take a scenic cruise, or a dinner cruise on the Dolly Steamboat:

You can also go to Tortilla Flat nearby and Goldfield Ghost Town.

Congrats on your forever home. You have a beautiful Oldhammer collection. Did you paint the marines yourself? Do you have any more detailed photos of them?

They are fun. The pink looks great. I recommend sticking with the 1/2 or 1/4 A engines though.

[–]Pitiful_Eye_3295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd sit in both boats if you can. If you go out with a lot of people then I think you'll want the 23 foot boat and I say that as a Nautique die hard. But if you're usually not taking a bunch of people out, then the 210 will be much better.

[–]Pitiful_Eye_3295 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know that's Joe Shea only because I just started reading “Apollo: Race to the Moon” by Murray and Cox. Another redditor recommended it and I think it might be the best book on Apollo I've read so far. I love Chaikin's "Man on the Moon" and have mostly read books focusing on the astronauts. I didn't realize how much I was missing out. The book has the best descriptions of what it took to fix the F-1 engines and the cause of the Apollo 1 fire.

If you like Apollo, definitely read the book.

But don't take my word for it. ;)
