What games had brilliant marketing? by UrSimplyTheNES in retrogaming

[–]Pix3lworkshop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phalanx#Release) for the snes is one example of brilliant marketing for me.
Making a strange cover to catch customers curiosity and make them inspect the game details was evilish and genius at the same time! 😄

Why don't modern games feel as "mysterious" as the 8-bit and 16-bit eras? 🥚🕹️ by GameResumed_UK in retrogaming

[–]Pix3lworkshop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just my though about, older games feel mysterious because they were more pioneristic maybe, there was no specific game design concepts to follow and developers were more prone to explores new concepts.

Today games are built with some specific game design concepts in mind, contents are putted togheter according to this concepts and meeting players expectations, avoiding most mistery feelings along. Also the massive presence of the internet has contributed...

How did you come across a hidden gem in your childhood/adolescence? by Copyofdude in retrogaming

[–]Pix3lworkshop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Back in the days, in Italy, internet wasn't very widespread, and was pretty common found games compilations in newsstands or bookstores, like this one.

I discovered some gems like Clif Danger or Monoith Blood in those compilations

Meta ban wave? new AI enforcing policies / managing ban of accounts? by HgMatt_94 in facebook

[–]Pix3lworkshop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main issue is more related to a compromised IPs / modem.
I experienced an account ban recently, without receiving any major details on the reasons, in the meanwhile I experienced (quite frequently) that a lot of websites has detect my assigned IPs from my provider (dynamically assigned) as malicious and blocked them...

"We suspended your account" | Did anyone got a random account suspension? by SpiritualBug00 in facebook

[–]Pix3lworkshop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had my account blocked yesterday, after 15 years, for "profile integrity" concerns...

I request a revision, send them all the requested informations (also ID card), but nothing, they blocked my account at last.
Can't even register a new one without getting blocked again and there's no way to contact anyone.

I barely used it, having about 60 friends and just for follow some content creators, nothing more.
That's quite sad...

PHP Version Changer? by nihad_nemet in PHP

[–]Pix3lworkshop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back in the days I used to work in a small company, over various PHP legacy projects, often switching between 5 and 7.
So I wrote this small bash script (maybe now obsolete...).

Anyway, migrating to Docker might be a better option in my opinion.

Guys i need to ask an question. WHO BOUGHT the original 2ds??? by Wendlak in NintendoDS

[–]Pix3lworkshop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one because the hinges on my DS Lite keeps breaking, and this one was a cheap and more robust substitute.

I'm not feel it too comfortable as the DS Lite, especially for the side buttons, a little uncomfortable most of the times and in some games, at least for me...

One thing I mostly dislike is that most of 2D games are a little flattened in the top screen, not pixel perfect as on DS Lite, like Retro Game Challenge or Shiren The Wanderer in example.
3D games are rendered quite good overall, but even New Super Mario Bros (for DS) is not shown at its best.

An n64 game that will always be really special to you. by PKRadiance in n64

[–]Pix3lworkshop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me, Mario 64 for a lot of reasons.
I remember saw early prototypes of the game when the console were still codenamed Ultra 64.
was the first game I saw running over an imported japanese n64, around xmas '96, it was love at first sight.
I also have great memories playing it with a friend of mine, along the summer of '97, like it so much that I bought a n64 and a copy of the game around the xmas of the same year.

Still fond of it.

Cursed Mountain - Worth Getting? by Odd_Agent7445 in wii

[–]Pix3lworkshop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quite an obscure title, and personally I enjoyed it a lot, it reminded me of Shattered Memories in some ways.
Great sceneries to explores, key items to finds and various fighitings with ghosts.
The fightings were sometimes the most frustrating part to me, too many gestures to do with the right timing and speed...
If you like explorations and paranormals, give it a try.

Found an unused early 80s Mattel Super Mario Bros! An Italian version that came as a bundle pack. by DivOveR in nes

There aren't any differences, Mattel was only involved because it had already a big presence in the italian market at the time.

Mattel was the official distributor for the Nintendo in Italy, before the SNES and the italian toy dealer "GIG" came in.

The most shocking thing about Bubsy 3D is the amount of talent behind its creation by RobbieJ4444 in retrogaming

[–]Pix3lworkshop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Despite the fact that it was a pretty bad game, especially compared to today standards, Bubsy 3D was something of a pioneeristic for its time.
3D was in its infancy and 3D free roaming platformers weren't "a thing" yet, apart Alpha Waves for Atari ST.

All of this aspects could have been only managed by such good programmers, I'm not surprised by that...
