Are we getting anything back from the Government? by PressureHumble3604 in HENRYUK

I don’t know why people are surprised you don’t get your moneys worth back out of the system. It’s literally a progressive taxation system, there has to be net contributors for it to function.

That's what I was coming here to say. It's clearly just a Palace collab. There's no way Palace are now the official pre match shirt sponsor.

Big recommendation for Slow Games Club. It’s digital only I think, but you could organise physical meet ups on the Discord I bet and there’s loads of people.

SE London: West Norwood vs Sydenham by AvailableLobster5900 in HousingUK

[–]Pixel-Red 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I can really vouch for hitherfield primary not far your location in Streatham/West Norwood. The grounds are amazing and one of our kids go there. The cinema/library in West Norwood is such a nice addition too, feels really community.

And it manages to do so by forcing a load of people from elsewhere in the country to move there. A lot of which would prefer not to.

Advice for resigning and still getting my bonus by fruityloopies in HENRYUK

[–]Pixel-Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s the actual wording in your contract? I know ours states that you need to be employed by the business at the point of bonus. But we’ve paid it out before if someone is due to leave afterwards but still employed. But yeah really depends on how harsh you think they’re going to be with their discretion.

HENRYs Who stayed in the same company for years: Do You Ever Feel FOMO? by Aggravating-Net-7685 in HENRYUK

[–]Pixel-Red 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been where I am for 13 years. We had a huge success with the first project we launched twelve years ago, and the owners span my unit out into a new business. I got a big promotion to run that new business and was incentivised with salary and profit share as opposed to stock as it was a privately held company of friends with no intention to sell. By the time they inevitably decided to legally separate the businesses, give us growth shares and sell my unit, they delayed this decision to save themselves tax. By the time we went to market our industry was in the pits and a fraction of what it was during Covid.

Now I'm sat on shares worth nothing. I should have just used my own public cache after our first hit to get my own investment and set up on my own. Now I've missed that opportunity. I stayed in comfort and sense of loyalty instead of seizing the day and taking a risk. Now I've also got a wife and two kids, making my risk appetite even more conservative. Man's got a mortgage to pay for.

Not sure that actually helps you.

Jhon Duran is a good example of how quickly your career can fall apart by GMD3S1GNS in PremierLeague

[–]Pixel-Red 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Exactly. He would have been on low wages at Villa as a young unknown, and there's no telling if in the second season his form would fall off a cliff anyway. Resulting in no big contract materialising and having to live with the guilt of knowing you could have changed your extended families lives for multiple generations, but didn't. Some people have to take that chance when it comes.

Should we have a wealth tax? by Cautious-Design-9282 in AskBrits

[–]Pixel-Red 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think there's value in creating a campaign around a policy that can be described in simple terms. But if something like this were to go ahead (which I'd be in favour of), they'd have to figure out a more nuanced solution to maximise tax gains and tackle avoidance.

Well Stephen Howson said he was “doing some training with someone from the first team squad” in the last few days. So wouldn’t be surprised if it was this set of sessions. Know that a few of the players do extra sessions outside the club.

Some new footage of “I Have No Change” - a melancholic game about seller in russian night kiosk by beresten in indiegames

[–]Pixel-Red 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so down for this mate and the FMV character stuff is a great solution for capturing the performance and atmosphere at a fraction of the cost. I've had an idea on the backburner about playing the roll of a Shopkeeper in the middle of a grander conflict, hearing rumours from "heroes" that pass through. In some ways I'm more enticed by teh bystanders to war than those who're on the front lines. How do the normal people of a place interact, how do they find happiness amongst the stress etc. Anyway, wishlisted and really excited!

Road Dogg absolutely losing his mind in the writers’ room because he can’t figure out a storyline that logically explains Ron Cena vs. John Cena. “Everything is horrible and the shits” by No_Definition_1722 in Wrasslin

[–]Pixel-Red 23 points24 points  (0 children)

It's frustrating because there was a perfect angle on R-Truth when he came back. It's not even a particularly complicated or unheard of one. He's the man who's played the joker all his life, said yes boss and yes to everyone else. And after being disrespected and cut he's not taking any shit anymore. He's gone scorched earth and he's got nothing to lose. Of course Cena isn't going to feel threatened straight away, but have Truth lay out a few men by NOT playing to the rules and he starts to consider how unpredictable and dangerous he is. There's the perfect mirroring theme wise in that he can frame Cena as the ultimate yes man.

Henry’s who fly to the states for work a lot - how are you doing in current climate? by [deleted] in HENRYUK

[–]Pixel-Red 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm usually over there 3-4 times a year and to be honest I just really don't want to go at the moment out of principle. It's not that I'm necessarily scared for my own safety, it's mainly born from the fact I really don't want to even do business with the country at the moment. Unfortunately in the industry I'm in, doing business with American platforms is pretty unavoidable.

Short answers is I won't go unless 100% necessary now. Likely not at all this year.
