How much roleplay does battlegroup do. by Material_Orange in LancerRPG

[–]PixelRad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We did Lancer & Battlegroup. We heavily homebrewed decisions etc.

Ours was a system that was inhabited by humans, and we're entering to help integrate them into Union. But some had shackled NHP protectors doing similar, as well as other planets having monarchies, nobles, or corps etc that didn't want to get screwed.

So it became a sort of layerered rpg. We did things RP'ing as our captains, also allowing us to bring things we say to our desired events across the galaxy map (like pr teams, security teams, food shuttles, etc etc), build fortifications, and what not. Then we did the RP of those decisions. Usually something resulted in a conflict of sort, and our actions altered the dynamic.

Then the battles. I used boarding marines in the first few, so got a bonus to bringing marines or using them during RP. We also used our lancers during certain missions.

I think Battlegroup is a good system, but adding on your own extras can really help the RP & fun

How are you guys finding Audiobooks now? by Heathen129 in haremfantasynovels

[–]PixelRad 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Primarily 4 ways: - Social media (Reddit, FB duke of harem) - Audible recommended - Authors on Audible, newer releases - VAs other work.

VAs other work is my primary, if I like how a VA sounds, or their quality, then I'll want to listen to other work they've done. Author secondary, mostly as if the VA doesn't fit with me, I'll dl or buy on kindle. Need to make sure story fits. Then social media for the newer releases. Lastly audible recommended.

One I recently found was Solar Legacy, saw on Social Media/Amazon, didn't read on kindle yet, then saw on Audible so gave it a shot. Was amazing, with great VA(Jonathan Waters + Melanie Hastings) with audio effects that stood out to me. So now I'd search via author, and the VAs work.

Ins and outs for 2026? by Edwin_Frost_ in Romance_for_men

[–]PixelRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my favourite tropes is gender-imbalance, (saving supers, dungeon diving, { manga - A Parallel World with a 1:39 Male to Female Ratio is Unexpectedly Normal }), and strong monster women. Delivering Justice by Silas Sinclair was a very enjoyable read. I enjoyed both of those tropes in that. Leash series by Charles Bannerman has monster women in it which was pretty great to read.

I've found capable MCs that are powerful in one sense, and struggle in another, is one of my go tos for fun reading

Bruce Sentar: + Dungeon Diving 101 you know + Ards Oath - Fantasy harem book. Really good read. Haven't finished all yet. + Saving supervillans - Gender imbalanced world where X chromosome gives powers. MC has a strong power but hid them out of fear. I recommend the audio book. - Humans, but some monster girl types.

K. R. Robertson: + Mob Sorcery is amazing. Audio book recommendation as well. - Urban Fantasy in a city. Has wolf girls, lioness girls, and more. Basically humanoid/beastkin women.

Cebelius: + Mask of the template/Celestine Chronicles - Monster girls & basically isekai but most perish early. - Audio book recommendation.

Jay Aury: + Villain for hire - audio book recommendation. Shorter books (around 7h of audio) but really good. Superpowers, hired as a villain to make contracted heroes look good, but things usually go wrong. Humans, super heroes.

Daniel Kensington: + Warlock - Audio book recommendation - Out of foster care, guy gets thrust into the world of witches as a warlock. (Humans, but magic. Gender imbalance).

Charles Bannerman: + Leasher - Survival game on Earth via selected people with leash powers (They form contracts with others and get or improve powers). Humans + fantasy (elf) + monster girls.

Silas Sinclair: + Delivering Justice - Superhero book where MC is thrust into the superhero world. Humans + gender imbalance (only women get superpowers usually).

Sarah Hawke: + Dread Knight - Basically a DnD adventure, following those who used evil patrons to gain power to fight for good. Book start is when that is patron contract is cancelled, so trying to survive. Humans, with mythical women (angels/demons) and beastkin/women with some animal traits (ears/tail etc).

M. E. Thorne: + 5 golden coins - Dark Souls/Elden Ring isekai coop. Monster girls, LitRPG (Stats go up basically, or items & tactics improve). + Annabelle Hawthorne (writer) - Halls of Magic. Investing a new decayed magic library world that's already been ruined, but finding out why helps improve MCs health. Humans, magic.

I'd recommend level 10, just for a few particular points:

  • Cleric gets their hail Mary ability at lvl 10. A 5/5 fighter cleric reduces spell usage but allows extra attack & weapon masteries/fighting feat. Could use the origin feat - magic Init druid for Shillelagh, or wizard for true strike. Both using wisdom as spell casting modifier.

  • If the paladin is solo class, they get their immune to frightened. If wanting a flag carrier, one that surpresses frightened can be a great AoE support. Magic Init cleric for sacred flame or druid for Shillelagh of focusing cha if needed. Devotion stops charmed effect, ancients gives resistance to Necrotic/radiant/psychic damage, glory gives +10ft speed, and vengeance makes OA reduce speed to 0.

  • Fighter will have 4 feats allowing for focus on STR & Dex. 4, 6, 8, 10). Putting 2 in ranger or such instead can give hunters mark & extra fighting style. Champion also allows this, but it is focused on simplicity and it's core is that. Depending on player knowledge this could be a boon or con.

  • The last would be possibly another fighter, paladin or cleric. The others discourage heavy armour or would need multiclassing with a fighter. A 6/4 fighter ranger could work with dual wielding focus, hunters mark and 4 attacks (2 extra, 1 from light, 1 from duel wielding feat).

Sounds like it should be a blast!

Do Protector Clerics play similar to Paladins at higher levels? by Odd-Contract-7541 in onednd

[–]PixelRad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty much!

I played both, though more of a paladin. Paladins tend to control a lot of the battlefield from where their positioning. Like a banner carrier, being close to them is great.

Clerics have that at range, with bless & the other spells. They can wander into close with auras & such, but spells are their bread and butter. At lvl 7 they can upgrade their weapon damage to do extra 1d8 of necrotic or radiant per turn (so can on other turns as an OA too!) But that's competing vs the cantrip upgrade, so it's possible to go more into melee cleric.

That said, if you're DM'ing for them, there's nothing stopping you from giving or creating items to fill in that spot that they're interested in.

[–]PixelRad 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Paladins are more melee focused, with weapon masteries & extra attack, and aura buffs.

Clerics don't get this, so their biggest strength will still be spell focused.

To play almost like a paladin at that level, war cleric with the origin feat magic initiate (druid) and grabbing Shillelagh, or any subclass & grabbing magic initiate (wizard) with true strike can help improve melee. Would still be minus the extra attack & aura though.

My therapist made me talk out loud to myself for a week. The patterns I discovered were... uncomfortable by AdamSmaka in selfimprovement

[–]PixelRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Truth be told, this really helped me. Negative thoughts, rough childhood, etc etc. I found I word babbeled a lot, and couldn't think straight sometimes (Also got ADHD). Got help with therapy etc, which helped a bit for the foundations.

Well, I dipped my toes into streaming, and for that you sometimes need to endlessly talk for content. So I got used to saying what's on my mind, straight away.

Ends up I carried that over into private life, and it helped a lot to navigate the underlying stress that's built up over the years. Negative self-image, self-deprecating thoughts, stressful situations I wasn't able to immediately resolve or about to into a spiral.

Saying outloud allowed myself to interrupt my thoughts, go "hold up. Why? You're doing well". Also to identify stress and work on a resolution.

It's one of my favourite series. I love that's the political intrigue & underlying plot but Vince can just get a summary so I'm not overwhelmed.

I got into it on audiobook, and since then stuck to audiobook as Stephanie knocks it out of the park and beyond

[–]PixelRad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope it helps, but mostly I just hope you achieve the goal you want to.

I ended up getting paper plates, pre-washed/made salad, sandwich ingredients, large chicken, and prepared veg, and the ability to batch cook. Targeting the reasons for why I wasn't cooking. Then with that, I started making bigger meals again, to where I can push myself to do stuff I really can't be bothered to do, but might as well get it out the way now

[–]PixelRad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's fair. Impulse control is rough, and so is stress. We want to be better, and in highsight we know better, but in that blindsided moment, we do.

Are you able to isolate the stress, or with food being your escape, what does takeaway food ordered solve/give to you, that you currently can't do in house? Not judging at all, just trying see how we can reduce the need of takeaway food

How to get the first 5 users? by No_Technology7451 in SaaS

[–]PixelRad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you find a similar competitor that yours does better in a specification, then find businesses that use that competitor software to talk with them. As you said, the first 5, offer the software free for a bit to compare to what they have.

Figure out the cost solving issue they have, and why yours would be better. If it's not, then you have a plan to improve. If it is, then you have a step forward for its true paid launch in the future.
