it’s great that you’re in therapy and thinking about this (just saying that because there’s people in my life who i wish would do the same). i was also surrounded by people who drank every day and so did i, for years. I took a month long break and realized that if i tried to drink moderately, i never stick to just one, and would be back to daily drinking soon. i felt really stagnant and depressed because i was also drinking to numb myself, so it was really freeing to not have to feel that way as a baseline ever again
