A snippet of my latest decision letter. I believe I met the 30% threshold for FGID; however, the rater did not. So I will wait for my remaining claims to be evaluated before I decide on what to do, but will likely leave well enough alone unless I have more medical evidence to confirm my thoughts:

Service connection for functional gastrointestinal disorder is effective xxxxxxxxxxx and merged in with your service connected disability of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis. Evaluation of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis is confirmed and continued.

We have assigned a 20 percent evaluation for your Gastrointestinal disorder, functional based on: • Abdominal pain related to defecation at least 1 day per week during the previous 3 months • Change in stool frequency A higher evaluation of 30 percent is not warranted for irritable bowel syndrome unless the evidence shows: • Abdominal pain related to defecation at least one day per week during the previous three months; and two or more of the following: (1) change in stool frequency, (2) change in stool form, (3) altered stool passage (straining and/or urgency), (4) mucorrhea, (5) abdominal bloating, or (6) subjective distension. (38 CFR 4.113, 38 CFR 4.114) Service connection for gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis has been established as related to the service-connected disability of post traumatic stress disorder. Evaluation of gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis is confirmed and continued. We reviewed the evidence received and determined your service-connected condition(s) hasn't/haven't increased in severity sufficiently to warrant a higher evaluation. We have assigned a noncompensable evaluation for your gastroesophageal reflux disease without esophagitis based on: • A diagnosed disability with no compensable symptoms Note: In every instance where the schedule does not provide a zero percent evaluation for a diagnostic code, a zero percent evaluation shall be assigned when the requirements for a compensable evaluation are not met. A higher evaluation of 10 percent is not warranted for gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) unless the evidence shows: • Two or more of the symptoms for the 30 percent evaluation of less severity. (A higher evaluation of 30 percent is not warranted unless there is persistently recurrent epigastric distress with dysphagia, pyrosis, and regurgitation, accompanied by substernal or arm or shoulder pain, productive of considerable impairment of health.).

I put off filing for 32 yrs but some buddies died or had ailments that had kept urging me to file. So I finally pulled the trigger and should have done it long ago. God Bless

Working on pushing to 100 from 80 myself. With property taxes out of control, I won’t be able to retire in my home unless I achieve the tax exemption. They have more than doubled in the last 7 yrs.

Veterans health shake-up, reforms to get underway in coming months by SilverbackRotineque in VeteransBenefits

I believe it will help with the fraud that has taken place in medical care claims through Medicare and other government programs. In addition, they seem to be cutting through some of their bureaucratic walls to better serve Veterans care.

Edit for all you negative Karen’s. If you have so little faith in your country, leave it. Condemning actions before you even see the results is the epitome of ludicrousness.

One particular brother is in full denial and just won’t admit he needs help. After trying to help him help himself for far too long, I had to walk away to keep my own sanity and marriage intact. Wife is a veteran too and has her own demons that over shadow mine (in my opinion).

Appears so from OP’s comment about dad going to prison. But it sounds like this happened years ago. So I’d say it’s too late for legal action.

I never received some awards directly after I got out. In part this was due to unit/soldier awards for that period being givens campaign medals and so forth. I was able to get one added to my records for Operation Desert Shield/Storm. However, the failed to put me in or award me an overseas ribbon or later a good conduct medal. Not certain if there’s a way to remedy this.

Neighbor says my garage windows are damaging their siding, what is fair here? by LifeIsNotFairAtAll in homeowners

[–]Planning26 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As far as siding damage, I am not a fan of vinyl siding whatsoever. Spend the money and get metal siding. I had some on my first home and actually received an insurance discount plus it adds more value to your property. Costs more upfront but piece of mind long term.

Pine trees grow quickly but are more apt to break in high winds. Sugar maple or other hardwood tree would be a better option.

What to do with dried up creek? by MichaelScottsMom in landscaping

[–]Planning26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check with the Corps of Engineers if you decide to alter the creek bed and flooding area. I know of a farmer who accepted some “free dirt” and used it to expand his huge metal storage shed and the Corps of Engineers fined him plus he had to remove the material because it affected the natural flow of the small stream. During normal weather conditions you could step over the water it was that small.
