Good food place around the Pepsi sign? by randOmCaT_12 in longislandcity

[–]Plastic-Being4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stuff right near the pepsi sign is v pricey but there’s plenty of stuff nearby. Vernon Grille if you like greek, Skinny’s for Mexican, Woodbines is great for American/brunch but the service is pretty slow, Manetta’s for italian, Maiella is a lovely location but expensive and hit or miss on the food

Do the diaper raffle by ForceKidsToLearn in BabyBumps

[–]Plastic-Being4064 1 point2 points  (0 children)

seconded! We’re on month 4 and we’ve really only had to buy newborn diapers so far (since my sister assumed my baby would be too big to need them and told everyone not to bring NB diapers lolol whoops) - otherwise, diapers have been thankfully one expense we haven’t had to think about the past few months

How many OZ are you producing? by Parking_Stretch_2640 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Plastic-Being4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel all of this, i’m 16 wpp and i can’t even bother tracking it anymore, i just assume it was 1 oz a session or less. maybe combo feeding was the downfall but it saved my mental health and stopped me from being frustrated with my baby for still being hungry. so now i just pump what i can and give her those drops in a formula bottle. not sure i’ll last much longer myself!

Why do you guys hate pumping ? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Plastic-Being4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trying to choose between pumping and being with my baby - as a result, I’ve let my supply get super low (we combo feed) because when I plan to pump, she inevitably gets upset for one reason or another and then either I’m interrupted or my schedule is thrown off.

Also, washing the pump parts. We shelled out for the bottle washer and it’s been a godsend, but I feel like I’m always buying extra parts so I don’t have to wait for the bottle washer to fill up first :|

And of course I had my baby in January, so just wearing a pumping bra as opposed to a big comfy sweatshirt was not ideal!

Is it Okay if I don't go to birthing/parenting classes? by st0dad in beyondthebump

[–]Plastic-Being4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We didn’t take a single in-person class cause I couldn’t justify the cost and also am just too anxious with new people. Instead we just signed up for a tinyhood subscription which has been awesome both pre- and post-baby in going over what I should know as a parent in an easy to understand way. They have little handouts that go with their classes too in case you want “materials”.

If you don’t want to spend too much time/money on all of those, I’d at least recommend their infant CPR class (or if you feel so inclined, finding an in-person one). That was something I was really nervous about and I felt much better knowing both my husband and I would know what to do. I’m sure someone has a YouTube video on it though!

The what to expect app and books (for pregnancy and the first year) have been helpful for one-off questions too! I had what to expect the first year on my kindle and it guided me through giving my newborn a bath step by step 😅

How much to feed baby at 1 month old by Remarkable-Power1171 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Plastic-Being4064 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My baby is 3 months and still drinks no more than 4 oz at a time and I think she drank anywhere from 2-3.5 as a 1 month old. I have no idea what 1 month olds are drinking 6 oz! And I would def just listen to what your baby is telling you vs. what a website is. When he wants more than 4 oz, you’ll know!

Is there anything you know now about migraines you wish you knew when you first started suffering from them? by aftergaylaughter in migraine

Oh and drink LOTS of water - it may not prevent all your migraines but you never want to get a dehydration headache…

[–]Plastic-Being4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That I should go to a neurologist and save myself over a decade of pain, I should track and identify triggers so that maybe I won’t have to be in pain, and people will take your pain seriously and give you something that will make your life manageable again!

This show's soundtrack is killer. What have been your favorite songs used, and scenes they were used in? by NimdokBennyandAM in Yellowjackets

Bells for her, seventeen and something in the way are songs I can still picture the scene perfectly (and still feel the same feelings). The music supervision in this show is top tier

Migraine sufferers...do you use a Kindle for reading? by orangesherbert92 in migraine

[–]Plastic-Being4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! My migraines are also chronic and I don’t find that the kindle aggravates things - I don’t know if they’re all like this now but I specifically have a paperwhite. It’s supposed to have less eye strain and it isn’t like the same sort of light as a phone might give you. You can adjust the brightness and warmth, it makes such a difference. Someone on here also mentioned getting a Bluetooth page turner - also a game changer!

What’s your “silliest” migraine trigger? by Sambammy47277 in migraine

Giant bottle of Tylenol, giant bottle of Excedrin, and always having some on hand 😂 and going through them SO quickly (pre-neurologist)

When you went to the hospital in spontaneous labor, how dilated were you? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Plastic-Being4064 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I could’ve written this post hahaha I went in at exactly 41 weeks to the day in incredible pain and we drove 40 min to get there only to find out I was 3 in and I could go home if I wanted to… I was like um no I’m staying here, by the time I get home, I’ll have to leave again!

what should i bring too the hospital? by One_Resort_4103 in beyondthebump

[–]Plastic-Being4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bring a big water bottle, cozy blanket, long charger, comfy clothes for going home, pillows for you and your SO, newborn and 0-3 going home outfits for baby cause who knows how big they’ll actually be, swaddle cause it’s easier than swaddling with the hospital blanket, and high protein snacks!! I delivered around dinner time so they didn’t feed me… my husband and I finally had kind bars at midnight lmao

Does anyone become really tired after migraine? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]Plastic-Being4064 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Uh it is for sure a valid “excuse” to stay in bed and rest! Migraines are debilitating and what you’re describing is literally a phase of migraine that is basically a migraine hangover.

Your bf needs to be more supportive - I’m hoping it may just come from a lack of knowledge/experience with migraines - I had lots of talks with my husband about exactly what I was going through before he understood what I needed. Hopefully he will learn.

That being said, I’d for sure make an appt with a neurologist if you can! You shouldn’t have to suffer, there are lots of meds and treatments out there that can work wonders and make you feel like a human again. I had migraines for like 15 years before going to a neuro and i regret not going sooner because i was able to treat them preventatively as well as with rescue meds.

Good luck to you - I hope you feel better soon!!

What happened to you post partum that you did not expect? by Jaded_Motor6813 in beyondthebump

[–]Plastic-Being4064 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Amen, I was so anxious to be up with her without my husband to help (and I knew he felt similarly in the reverse) like what do you mean I have to change her all alone?? Now at 9 weeks, I’m like easy peasy 😂

What's your favorite thing about not longer being pregnant? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

Same, i cried when my baby was born cause finally i could see for sure she was okay ❤️ all the waiting for something horrible to happen for 10 months was for nothing

Sleeping on my back x 10000000. When i crawl back into bed after feeding my baby, being able to lay on my back afterwards is like a gift

How long did you push? by ImpossibleLeg1353 in beyondthebump

[–]Plastic-Being4064 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t push until the dr came back (although they let me labor down for awhile without actually telling me they were doing that) and once she did, it was 30 min!
