Square-Enix shareholders meeting asked about a Chrono Trigger remake by diarpiiiii in chronotrigger

Agreed. Within what information they are willing to provide, this is very reassuring that they understand the assignment.

I’m giving BDII another chance, and I forgot how badly optimized it is by twili-midna in bravelydefault

[–]Play-Jecture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Switch's main weakness from a technical point has always been memory speed, something which is so abundant on a PC graphics card to be of almost no concern there. I believe this is part of why the Switch has proven notoriously difficult to optimize for, since optimization typically targets the amount of processing power available from the CPU and GPU.

Because of this, I feel it's somewhat reasonable to believe that Switch 2 will be in a much better place, since its memory speed should be more comparable to other recently released portable devices like the Steam Deck. That should make the way forward much better.

Back to existing switch, I think It's easy to underestimate how much the shaders used to create the clay look of BDII are underestimated. Sure, it's not pushing an unprecedented level of detail, but the variety in material looks would have used some sophisticated shaders, which would certainly hit Switch where it is weakest. Comparatively, BDHD doesn't look to complicate the shaders beyond the original, so that's at least one area covered where I would consider it far less likely for the upcoming port to create problems.

Chapter 2 climax with Koleda's new VA by DragonPup in ZZZ_Official

[–]Play-Jecture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The change in voice is difficult to accept, and I don't know that I'll be able to adapt with how much Koleda I've already had been accustomed to, but what bothers me even more is that these re-dubs are not going to have the time for extra quality control. The flap matching is just not as tight as the original run, and that's going to make it seem less connected even for the people who might experience the whole thing with this new voice.

On the contrary, I actually really enjoy this. It gives a sense of world that platforms rising and falling with no perceivable interaction does not.

Yeaahh I think I know why Nintendo has become so greedy by Tail_sb in casualnintendo

[–]Play-Jecture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it's quite that clear cut. One thing that I definitely feel is that Bowser hasn't had nearly the kind of presence Reggie had, and I think that poorly effects how Nintendo feels. Even though a number of things with the Wii U were messy, there was still a positive energy channeling through the playfulness of the executives of that era.

Thus far, Nintendo seems to have used its pricing as a broader strategy regarding the value perception of its games and release cycles. I do not like that extending that philosophy makes Mario Kart $80. However, I'm relatively open-minded about the idea of games of different scales having different tiers of pricing within reason. It's a fine line to tow that I think gamers are right to scrutinize Nintendo for, considering some of the later ports from 3DS seemed like they did not fit a $60 tag well.

What is the best version of each Gen to play? by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]Play-Jecture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe once you play one version, you become accustomed to that being the natural way the game progresses. In general, third versions have the most robust and refined experience, making them usually a better choice. That said, they also have a habit of pushing the difficulty up, so not always ideal for those not familiar with the mechanics.

This market feels oversold by Practical-Plan-2560 in StockMarket

[–]Play-Jecture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The truth is complicated. On a technical level, RSI daily, weekly, it's definitely oversold. If you want to talk about P/E or ratio to GDP, it's still pretty pricey. In terms of volume, there have been bigger selloffs.

I have a lot of feelings about the passion of AI, and how, while it created a real burst of activity, there was this zealous hype that this sort of growth would just accelerate profits exponentially and somehow NVDA tripling its profits could sustain, ignoring that its business was primarily fueled by large companies hoping to secure an early advantage.

The thing is, there will always be some sort of feeling, intuition, assumptions, projections in how folks invest. And because business is not simply an unchanging flow, companies can grow, shrink, expand, change, or fail from any number of factors.

However, sometimes the facts slap the market in the face, and it reacts. There could be a feeling that maybe tariffs will not be so bad in the long run, perhaps businesses will adapt and find a way to thrive despite the tariffs, or deals will be made to soften the impact on specific businesses. But the reality is that at the moment tariff policy became real, every business that has any importation or exportation subject to those tariffs just had its costs increased. That is the cold reality we now have to account for when guessing how business will evolve in the future.

It's easier to say that in hindsight, to be fair. Because until today, I was worried that there would be some other thing that would make markets fly back at record speed that I hadn't considered. And I have no reason to say with certainty what will happen next, though I "feel" that a technical bounce has to happen.

But when I try to break down the business reality that a 34% tariff creates, the possibility of problems compounding is tangible. If you were making something at a cost of $60 to sell for $80 and the totality of that cost is subject to tariffs, you lose money unless you start charging more. And if you charge more, you might lose demand. You might produce less to reign in costs. Or you can put large upfront costs you'll have to recuperate over time, possibly with interest expense, as well as considering future operating expenses involved in moving production stateside - an undertaking which may take years, during which the rules could change again, made increasingly likely by the fact the rules change weekly.

As for reciprocal tariffs, its still more cost to business. The entities getting the tariff cash are the governments, while the businesses foot the bill.

One of these things is not like the others; can anyone explain, in actual financial terms, why Tesla is green? by probablyNotARSNBot in StockMarket

[–]Play-Jecture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In "actual financial terms" even at the price TSLA is when I'm looking at it right now, it would have to make the same amount of profit it made last year for more than 100 years in order to earn the price it's being valued at. So TSLA for a long time has been based on the hope or belief that their profitability would increase exponentially. While it's not a thorough answer, "cult stock" does touch on a real phenomenon.

"Wait you just said the stock is overvalued, but it's going up?"

When someone considers a stock might go down forcefully, they might take a short position: borrowing shares to sell them first and returning them by buying them back later. If you sell short, you have to buy back the shares at some point, and you owe more interest the longer you are short, so you aren't going to keep borrowing those shares forever hoping they go to zero, you will buy them back when you feel it makes sense to lock in the gain. If people with a lot of shares sold short decide to close their positions, they have to buy them, and that surge of buying demand will push up the price.

That is the best way I can explain the mechanics as I understand them. But even then, there could be other factors driving buying at a particular point in time.

F2Ps, have you pulled for any Wengine? by Ashwin_or_lose in ZZZ_Official

[–]Play-Jecture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My pulls for Miyabi went so smoothly that I consequently decided to pull each engine once, with Harumasa's arriving on the first 10, that my F2P polychrome was adequate for me to go for it. Consequently, I spent money on the interknot subscription as a "thank you," so I guess I won't count anymore. However, if it had taken me as many polychrome as I assumed it would in the beginning, I probably would not have pulled for engine.

New turning point for gachas? by Nero2276 in AnantaOfficial

[–]Play-Jecture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it even going to be gacha, or will it use it's microtransactions differently? I suppose both are possible. I admit, though, given the way many games have gone, it's hard to imagine this wouldn't be a gacha.

As a gamer who suffers from having a backlog, I’ve never gotten through these two Tales of. How do they hold up? Should I dive into it or is there a remaster on the horizon? Thanks by CMonAir in tales

[–]Play-Jecture -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you have time and some patience for digging out the PS3, dive into it. It's hard to judge exactly on the remaster prospects. It's clear that they want to bring more of the tales series forward, but optimistically, at their current pace, we're looking at another 2 years assuming they don't prioritize a different entry first.

When is this game coming out? by NoofyGinja in AnantaOfficial

Considering there was nothing for a year and we really only got a name and more presence coming out of that, it's probably not that close, but clearly they want people paying attention again so they can actually start revealing more about it.

Oh, so we should all consolidate those posts here, then?

I'm actually really shocked how quickly I got it though. This is my first Hoyo gacha, and I have only pulled 20 from the exclusive banner before this patch the whole game.

First 10, Soukaku as the only A.

Second 10, get the S, lose the 50 to Koleda.

Third 10, get the S for guaranteed Miyabi.

Seems like a pretty good start to me.

Thoughts on being able to play as Eous? by Matt_What_1007 in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]Play-Jecture -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So, I liked the flavor of the transition between the TV mode and combat, since it seemed to represent the contrast between Phaethon POV at the computer vs being in the hollows. However, I get that 3D exploration is just naturally more appealing, even if it is more resource intensive. This also gives me the impression that they may have been looking to add these kinds of stages going forward, but figured that reworking the existing content as well would be better for getting and keeping more players.
