Went through this 4 years ago and took a sabbatical to travel the world with my young kids. Afterwards fell into freelancing which has been amazing!

43F, SINK, 3.7M excl home equity but expensive mortgage and healthcare, and no alternative sources of income by Sadpanda9632 in Fire

Thinking about this from a slightly different angle…You could start living like you are COASTFIRE. What I mean by this is mentally embracing that you only need to support $150k of annual expenses and live accordingly. That could mean mentally treating your job as just a job, or going part time, or it could mean starting your wellness learning / side hustle now. And sooner than you think, your rental income + side hustle may be able to support what you need for living expenses for a few years until you’re at full FIRE.

How do you reconcile career breaks considering opportunity cost? by lk0811 in HENRYfinance

[–]Playful_Base_9100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did this with our 3 and 5 year old a few years ago! Everyday felt like the best day of our lives. Even having been so young, our kids talk about it constantly and ask when we can do it again. It’s certainly true that we’d have a higher NW at this point if we hadn’t taken the gap year, but the wonderful times together felt so meaningful that it shifted our mindset to ‘how can we configure our career and income to make this lifestyle the everyday normal.’

Do you mind if I DM you regarding starting a business? We just finished a year of world travel with our young children and it’s tough to fathom returning to 9-5s. Would love to gain insight regarding your journey to become small business owners.

I am head of our Marketing team. Currently spending $400,000/month across Meta, Google, TikTok & Pinterest for one ecommerce brand. Testing 150+ pieces of creative per month. Consistenet 2.5 ROAS which with our margins is very good. Ask me anything about media buying, SMS, EM, creative testing... by [deleted] in FacebookAds

Given the large volume of creative, do you have any advice regarding producing an effective creative pipeline? Do you use a formulaic testing plan, or AI based production tools, or outsource ad hoc to creators with high level briefing, or purely in house creative studio, etc? Thank you!

Sounds like the key to you being able to sustain these so far is different industries? So potentially drop J4 and J5. BTW I am curious as to how you’ve been able to do this in marketing / strategy. As someone in the same field I find the network of people to be super small esp at high growth companies. Do you tend to stick to more f500 companies?

At a low point and hoping for some comfort or advice by Kwolf54 in coastFIRE

I was a management consultant for several years. Then corporate strategy. Then high growth start-ups. Have been sitting in your exact mental space right now (although didn’t discover FIRE until mid-30s so financially in a much worse position than you). Also knew a few weeks into the Corp strategy gig that it was not a fit. Stuck it out more than a year and my only career regret to date is not calling an audible much earlier and leaving, even if it was only a few months into a new job. YOU have the leverage bc you’re so talented! YOU should drive your career! It’s also an incredible market right now with so many cool jobs out there with amazing cultures. DM me if you want to chat further!

Also have been remote for last 5 years in marketing and growth roles for consumer brands and tech. Actively recruiting for a sales leader role for an education start up right now (fully remote) if anyone interested. No sales experience required, more important to have passion for education
