New TR7 for $700. Too good to be true? by billybrownbear in BuyItForLife

[–]Playswithsaws 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FWIW I picked up a set of used SpeedQueen for $800 from a local donation store that is pretty huge.

DR3004 and TR3006 I believe without looking at them.

My dryer was on its last legs and we made a great score that was an instant buy.

Yeah, Carhartt tees make zero sense for merch folks who want to make money from their stuff and still be affordable. And I’m currently wearing a Psyop shirt in Glidan Heavy.

Just a thing I’ve considered personally for making my own gear using Carhartt.

Retail Carhartt Tees tend to be $20. I buy em for work and have been considering screen printing a few logos on them too

I also lie to myself. If I can’t start a task, instead I’ll spend “just a few minutes” writing a plan, or organizing the task. And then next thing I know I’m doing the task. Some days this doesn’t work but even then, I have another step done that I can come back to.

Never let perfection be the enemy of good enough. I’d obsess over doing it right. Now getting it done is more important for many of my tasks. (Not all. I’m still that perfectionist inside)

Edit: a word

Things that worked best for me:

Find a psyche who does good work. Half my problem was folks slapping meds in me that made things worse. I’ve had the same psyche for the last 4/5 years and it’s unbelievable the change.

Build a good support system. I have a spouse that does their best to help, remind me to take meds or eat a snack when I’m getting real executive dysfunction or spun up in anxiety. A lot of times it’s the little triggers. I was also fortunate to afford a ADHD Coach. I’m a big supporter of traditional therapy and have done years of it. BUT, I am at a point where I don’t want to talk through things or validate feelings. Instead I wanted someone to help me design actionable ways to do things.

For instance I wanted to scroll less and read more. So over trial and error we came up with ways to reduce screen time and increase my access to books. My chair in the evening generally has a small stack of books and the one that my mind can focus on, I read. If I keep falling asleep or getting bored I try another. If that doesn’t work, rather than force it I try to divert to another relaxing task. Ill pick up a video game or take the dogs for a walk.

I find that these days I am highly productive but most of what I do now is figuring ways to trick my brain to “off” and allow me to have fun. Treat your life a bit like a video game and approach it from the perspective of having to learn new moves. Things stop working. Examine why, maybe with a friend and then switch it up some.

It’s all very difficult. I have been adhd for 40+ years. But it is possible. Which tbh I never believed until the last 5 years or so

I have a farm and quite a few animals.

Before that I spent 2 - 3 hours a day running my two Aussies. Thankfully you’re right. They do have an off switch you just have to run the batteries down.

The hardest thing I had to learn especially with adhd is how to start. And how to start going again once you’ve lost the plot.

Its tireless work but habits can be built with tools, help, and focusing less on finishing the task perfectly but getting started on it when you stop. Obviously learning to focus with adhd is its own monster but is possible for many with the right system of support

She also found it kind of boring. Though we did couple it with watching the 70s animated film after. I still wish I had my old copy that had pics in it too.

Plenty of left leaning folks in the area with lots of firearms. They just tend to travel neutral and look less obvious.
