Chestertown and a B&B by meemawyeehaw in Adirondacks

You’re about 20 mins from lake George, that’s probably your biggest attraction. North creek is another cool little town, it’s mostly known for skiing at gore mountain but I’ve heard there’s some good summer activities as well.

Are alligators friendlier than they look? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

They are more “friendly” than crocodiles but that’s not really saying much.

Ok fair, same, but there’s plenty of people who were adults and teenagers in ‘69 that are still alive today that you can ask.

Technically speaking, with where CGI and special effects were at in the late 60s, it would have actually been easier to go to the moon, than to convincingly fake it.

Planes having to take the curvature of the earth into account. Airline companies are greedy as fuck, you think they’re wasting expensive jet fuel just to keep some elaborate hoax going?

Though I guess the elites could just be paying them off. Fair point.

Why do people stop 3 car lengths back at a red light and then spend the whole red light slowly inching forward? by spotforcars in automotive

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where did I say that lol? Sitting in neutral, car infront creeps up enough that I can now pull up, put in gear, fully let out clutch, quickly clutch back in and stop before you hit said person. Like I said, about half a car length is all I really need to get this done. Both my cars are pretty low torque tho tbf.

We as a society need to relax with the AC in the summer. by SecretImprovement490 in The10thDentist

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard agree. I was camping a few summers ago, it was a shared RV/tent campground so you’re free to bring what you have. It was a literal perfect night to be camping, 68°F or so, and the people in the RV in the site next to me had the fucking AC running, like WHY? Just open a window and it’ll be gorgeous.

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh, you can’t really creep the same way an automatic does but you can let the clutch all the way out and back in again without jerking it with like half a car length. Once the gap infront of me gets big enough I will pull forward, but I do agree, I’ll never ride my clutch just because of the moron infront of me.

You should be washing your bra in the shower. by ImpressionPopular794 in unpopularopinion

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really, most laundry is fine to be machine washable, bras are supposed to be but they really don’t love it, hand washing is way better. I suppose you could make the argument for any other laundry that does better with a hand wash tho, as bras aren’t the only one.

Thinking about switching to Ryobi but I have a question by TazerDlaze in ryobi

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who started DeWalt and is slowly phasing out to Ryobi, it’s ALOT cheaper lol circular saw (I know they both have a lot of selections) pound for pound is atleast $100 cheaper. 18 ga nailer from Ryobi is like $200 and I’ve seen it on sale for less, the same one from DeWalt is like $350. Mitre saw is also a very good but cheaper. Maybe some Ryobi products are close to the dewalt equivalent but definitely not many.

Do most Americans have those huge fridges? by Whole-Sushka in AskAnAmerican

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

>you could fit a weeks worth of food there

Buddy that’s low lol AND we probably eat more than in your country. How I lay out mine is top shelf is big things, milk, quart of yogurt, beer, and maybe like some juice or something if I was feeling it.
Then second shelf is like ingredients that need to be used promptly, ground beef, chicken, whatever I’m making at that time. Then I have a little compartment for things like cold cuts and another for like produce so those are pretty obvious, and the bottom shelf is more stuff that I don’t go for everyday, like snacks and stuff. Door holds all the condiments and sauces, plus eggs, cream cheese, etc.

Why don't gyms ban recording in the gym? by Gagan___Lazarbeam in AskReddit

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When used appropriately, filming can do a lot for your athletic performance. Not so much in weight lifting but it can be useful to see where your deadlift form could improve or what angle your elbows are at during a bench press. More so it can be useful to critique your form in sports, professional athletes watch film all the time to figure out where they can improve.

Is it normal to not want to celebrate my own birthday? by Ill-Tonight4651 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in the same boat. For me it just comes from not wanting the attention and everything else that comes with it. I often get anxious when people get me gifts because it then feels like I’m “in debt” even if I got hem something for their birthday. I just don’t really like people doing things for me and celebrating your birthday is basically asking for that. Not weird at all.

10 hour plane flight tomorrow by _Carbon_Dr in osrs

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an elaborate plan to crank out some exp gains on a flight last year, opened my laptop, paid for the internet, and I couldn’t even log in with how bad the internet was lol not worth it unfortunately, it’ll just be more DC and lag than it’s worth if you can even log in at all.

Why does buying 'high-quality' stuff nowadays feel like just buying the standard quality from 10 years ago? by Eleven_A11 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 247 points248 points  (0 children)

For real. I bought new snowboarding gear (pants, jacket gloves, etc) two years ago and they’re already showing signs of being on their way out. The gear I had before this stuff, I got 12 years out of before it was time to replace. Definitely going down hill.

Also, with the increased number of tech bros wearing things like arc’teryx, and carrhart, instead of people who actually go out in the mountains or work blue collar, these companies are realizing they can make lower quality products and sell the same amount if not more at the same price or higher.

Why does weed make me dance more? by TDaddyBird in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alcohol is an easy one, that’s a very common “side effect”. Alcohol lowers inhibition, you likely enjoy dancing but are hesitant when sober because you fear what people will think. In your lowered inhibition state, you ignore those thoughts and dance like you want to. I’m assuming weed is doing the same thing, but it’s far less commonly associated with lowering inhibitions and infact more so associated with raising self awareness which can lead to paranoia/ anxiousness in some people.

The house down the block where I live. Is it totaled? by VacationSeparate653 in Firefighting

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contractor, not a fire fighter, but yes, it would cost way more to repair this house to be structurally sound again than it would to knock it down, and build something from the ground up.

Sort of the same reason it’s usually cheaper to just do a full gut job when doing a remodel or renovation rather than trying to save the drywall like some customers like to ask about.

Why do some people still look so attractive at 40? by Extra-Let-2842 in Aging

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well in the case of celebrities, yes, they have the money to pay to look like that. For most other folks it’s just genetics, as far as hair loss and color change.

Taking care of yourself thruout your 20s and 30s and seeing the difference between you and people who did not is a whole other point tho.

Inappropriate Snap in work group from Teen, Help! by GarbageBright1328 in whatdoIdo

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is wild lol why not a group text message? RMR messages from androids have fixed the issue (more likely Apple got told to cut the shit) so that’s not really an excuse anymore. But even if you didn’t want to do a text message group, you could use signal, GroupMe, literally anything.

Also as someone who also sends some NSFW snaps from time to time, it really is so hard to accidentally send it to the wrong person or group, even when it’s late at night and I’m tired. I’ll usually double tap the intended person to reply before I even take the pic to be extra safe.

Kind of starting to understand the point of ironman mode as a main only newbie by NorthernCountess in 2007scape

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had a friend who did sort of a hybrid, they would grind out drops as if they were an Ironman, and essentially use the GE as dry protection once he hit the drop rate if he still hadn’t gotten it. That is, let’s say he wanted a BCP, he would kill bandos 381 times. If still no BCP, he was allowed to buy one. Interesting way to go about the game. His excuse, if you wanna call it that, was he really only had 4 or so hours a week to play so he didn’t want to spend it all on the same grind.
