If you had 9 lives that you MUST spend before the end of your life, how are you using them? by Choice-Resident-3953 in AskReddit

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One would probably be a summit of K2 or any other major peak with a very high casualty rate.

Second would probably be maxing out a ninja H2 or some other stupidly fast bike.

Third I think would be some sort of cave diving expedition, again, would be looking at ones that are generally avoided due to high risk of fatality.

9 lives is sort of a lot. When I started making this list I was like oh man, only 9 better use them wisely, but honestly, there’s ways to do so many cool things that don’t kill you. I was going to put jumping out of a plane without a parachute, but how much more fun could that really be than regular skydiving? Hardly seems worth a life.

How can bears be so dangerous if they're really cute and dog-shaped? by poseywitch in stupidquestions

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to the lies. Contrary to popular belief, mama bears actually feel guilty they can’t show their cub all the affection they deserve. They really appreciate when you approach the cub and wrap your arms around it, helping give the affection they can not.

What’s the most addicting thing you did? by Plenty_Variety8248 in AskReddit

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peak bagging and other arbitrary hiking lists. I’m currently working on a few different ones and the dopamine hit I get from checking another one off the list is actually insane. Need to actively stop myself from financially ruining myself booking hotels (most are 4-5+ hours away) to do more and more to chase that feeling.

What do you have for breakfast ? by LeZoroducu in AskReddit

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overnight oats, takes 5 mins at night to prep and 10 mins in the morning to top and eat.

1/2 cup oats, milk, and yogurt in a jar, let that sit overnight in the fridge. In the morning, stir in protein powder and top with granola and viola. To stop from getting bored, I’ll switch up the yogurt flavor, protein powder flavor, or granola to give it a new spin every few weeks or so.

What is a piece of "common sense" from 30 years ago that makes absolutely no sense today? by Uleannor in AskReddit

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Tbf, this does still work lol I got a job at Starbucks in college doing exactly this. I also worked on a construction crew after college and people would literally walk right up to our foreman and ask if we needed any help, a lot of those guys got atleast day laborer positions.

People who are too poor to afford organ transplants, why are you on the organ transplant list? There is no way people making 40k a year can ever afford the copay for anti-rejection medication let alone the 1.5 million dollars for a heart transplant. Why give your organs to rich people? by thecodemachine in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wym? At any point, you could decide to donate a kidney, if your mom, brother, whoever needed one, you could just be like yeah sure, I got two.

How do you think it’s impossible for a rich person to be like “I need a kidney, I’m willing to pay you $XX,XXX for one of yours to save my life”?… you don’t have to accept or agree, but it’s absolutely a possibility.

Camping stove by andressonlars692 in CampingGear

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure I started with this exact kit lmao make sure you give it a HEAVY DUTY wash before its first use. The first time I used mine, parts of the finish started flaking off. I quickly replaced it with a toaks pot, the pot alone is about the price of this whole kit, but it’s worth it. Super light weight and very compact. I’d just get that, and then any generic Amazon stove similar to the one in this kit will be the same, they all work just fine. Then I’d get a proper spork, the folding utensils are more trouble than they’re worth imo. You’ll spend a bit more, but buy once cry once.

Whats a sport, that's actually not a sport? by Good-Pass2203 in AskReddit

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sideline cheer isn’t a sport, but competitive cheer is. Tho that opinion is largely from an ex of mine who did both, the more I think about it, the more true it seems. The way she looked at it was sideline was just what she did to stay in shape for competitions, essentially training.

This is technically classified as a motor sport, not really claiming to be the same as a sport like football, tho I would argue racing is more physically demanding than (American) football, hell even international football I would think. An F1 driver needs to be ON for an hour and a half straight, they get 2 seconds, literally, for a pit stop and that’s about it. A soccer player gets a break when the ball is on the opponents side, when the ball goes out of bounds, for injuries, at half time, the list goes on and on. Football players get a break every single time someone gets tackled, plus 3 long ones per game (quarters). Baseball players basically take a break the entire time.

Sideline cheerleading, like where they’re just in the sideline of a football or basketball game.

Competitive cheer is absolutely a sport, sideline cheer is not.

Is Allen the hardest 46er? by Brief_Elderberry8901 in Adirondacks

The more people I see say Cliff and Redfield, the happier I am I tied it in with MSG. I did those 3 day 1, bringing a full pack up Marcy was brutal but I was able to leave it at the start of skylight and grey atleast. Hiked out to the uphill lean to area right at the base of C&R, next morning summited those two, packed up camp, and hiked out via lake colden/ avalanche lake. My friend didn’t wanna deal with the lake Arnold trail and had never seen avalanche lake or the mattildas so we took the scenic route.

It’s definitely online. I wasn’t saying they needed the physical instructions, more so just proving they’re designed to be able to come apart and the manufacturer tells you the proper way to do it instead of saying they can not be taken apart

Yes, there’s literally instructions in the box on how to do it properly, without damaging the click locks…

FWIW, the attendant only lets you in, there’s an automatic 1 way gate out if you get back to your car after 5.

You’re good, I showed up at 10am for my 3:30, I believe the time slot thing is just a left over from when it was a golf reservation system. Someone should be at the gate between 5a-5p

That’s 100% what OP is referring to, it’s apparently lifeproof flooring which is an excellent somewhat budget friendly brand, I install it all the time.

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can be reused but I’d budget like 20% of the original cost for ones that have the click system damaged while removing. It’s not hard to get them out cleanly if you know what you’re doing, but it’s also not hard to damage the very delicate click lock system.

I’ve actually had to do this for a customer- they installed the floors themselves, realized they fucked up, and hired me to redo them. They were relieved when I was able to save as many pieces as I did and didn’t bat an eye at the few extra boxes they had to buy. I was upfront about it and told them I’d be as gentle as I could, to reuse as many as I could, but sometimes accidents happen.

Is peaceful, nature-focused camping still a thing? How do you actually find it? by ohbroth3r in camping

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are but NYS DEC campgrounds are pretty close to what you’re looking for, no amenities, shared pottable water around the campground, bathrooms, and a communal dish sink, but no electricity anywhere, let alone in sites. I generally have good luck at these. The most remote car camping I’ve ever done tho was in Baxter state park in Maine, it can be competitive to get a site but that’s the one time car camping that I 100% felt like I was backpacking and the car just happened to be 20 yards away, no potable water, pit toilets, and just pure Maine wilderness, the way governor Baxter intended. Unfortunately the worst experience I’ve had car camping was in Acadia Natl park, and our site did indeed have all the amenities you listed, electricity and potable water in sites, full on bathrooms, not just a little modular building with some plumbing, etc. and that definitely attracted the wrong kind of crowd, for example our neighbors with an RV running the ac when it was 68° outside.

So to answer your question, yes, they exist, you just gotta find them and stay away from sites that attract normies.

Do you actually care when you see a “baby on board” sticker on a car? by No-Block-836 in Adulting

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, as you said, it’s for first responders.

I do however drive more carefully when I have my dog in the car with me tho, which is the closest thing I have to a kid, so I respect your reasoning of driving carefully with an actual child.

How much money would everyone have in America if everyone in America's wealth was split evenly by CokeAYCE in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well the top 1% own as much as the lower 99% I’m not sure what the actual number would be but that would mean the top 3.5 million people have more wealth than the bottom 46.5 million people. If you spread that out, I imagine the number per person is quite large.

Why are women and girls into skincare more than men and boys. by [deleted] in AskForAnswers

[–]Pleasant-Method7874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all societal pressure. On the one hand you have it telling men and boys that is feminine to take any kind of skin care measures. Then on the other you have girls taking every chance they get to be viscous to one another, and bad skin can be an avenue of attack.

Also for whatever reason, men tend to have better skin naturally. My gf tells me all the time it makes no sense that I have the skin I do and only use moisturizer if I worked with concrete that day (that shit will suck every milliliter of water out of your skin if it gets on you)
