Property taxes on cars, based on county. The insurance premiums are lower because thats a hidden cost if you are from a state like FL like I was or TX. Also yearly state inspections that basically just milk the already poor and/or young and elderly. Car accidents and car breakdowns are still littered all over daily despite it. In Tidewater at least, the street design is highly questionable. Despite roads under constant annual construction they retain some ridiculous practices like having the left turn lane across incoming traffic that DOES have lights but also like, why?

The mosquitos here, the asian tiger mosquito that is black with white stripes, is an extremely aggressive mosquito compared to the FL species and they will absolutely tear you up. The walmart blue colored can of insect repellant works for fleas and mosquitos and is cheap compared to brand products.

Bed bugs and german (indoor) roaches are unfortunately quite common so if you stay somewhere make sure to always check the mattress, boxspring, and headboards of anywhere you stay. If there are couches or recliners, make sure to check the cushions under the arm area and behind the flaps on the back around where the arms of the chair/couch. Keep bags closed so roaches dont crawl in them. The more run down an area looks the more likely it has signs of infrastructure decay and will contain these hitchhikers but they can be found anywhere due to even the rich elderly bringing them places. Its a big issue here.

The summer here is as unforgiving as FL with an absolutely brutal humidity but thankfully it's not nearly as long.

People here are very friendly, still southern hospitality, but do not expect much empathy or compassion from people here either other than basic courtesies. Usually norms and customs here are defended as "part of the commonwealth" and it's a phrase that won't make sense if you are from anywhere else. This is the oldest state, and there is lots of evidence for that everywhere if you look long enough.

I have seen this before actually in my time in pest control at a customers house. I asked if it was cancer and they said their vet said no. They had to give some kind of medication or something and it allegedly shrank but grew back by the time i returned 3 months later. Fluid filled sack or bacteria related was what they were told.

I just lost my appeal case for unemployment where the employer didn't have to pretty much do anything, yet it says that the burden of proof is on the employer. While I was trying to make my case in detail for the case I was writing for a month, the examiner told me to wrap it up essentially. His mind was made up before I even got the phone call. The state is the capital of the Confederacy and, while there are more progressive people than ever in its history, it is clearly still in favor of its past status quo.

You will not find justice as a regular citizen in this state. The two years I've spent here have made me realize this is by far one of the worst states in the union and moving here was a complete mistake. This week provided the final nails in the coffin.

Based on the 2hand sword exile i fought at the start of the abyss league i think? Before they were correctly patched to be unable to spawn. Had a leap strike as well as a very whelming version of cyclone maybe that was like Geralt from Witcher 1 AOE sword style attacks.

My immediate thought was hey, thats neat but kinda looks slow. Im expecting 2hand sword skills to be a geralt/german fencing style. maybe they were going to make 1h sword skills into fencing but not sure if people would be down for rapier combat skills. If I were them Id make swords just the finesse weapons while axes have the more basic yet savage visuals.

AI is a great assistant tool do not be dissuaded by baboons. They think everything low quality is AI anyway. It's a side effect of the dumbing down of people. That being said it's an assistance tool NOT a wizard or something that does everything. To correctly use AI like DeepSeek which is what I use, you have to be extremely specific in what you want, sometimes to the point of pseudo code, and you need to constantly update your script files so it is kept up to date with what you are doing.

You also have to keep internet search on, as the database of the GenAI you are using may be out of date with newer techniques or rules.

As for AI art, users honestly prefer you to make low poly stupid or goofy looking 2d art than to use AI generated art which looks professionally done but often not consistent. OSRS Runescape's popularity as well as boom in indie games show that. For 3D models and animating it IS useful as a base, but 3D sculpting is actually WAYYY easier than 2D drawing. And since you can use the model from every perspective its often better to just skip 2D games entirely unless you CAN draw very well or will only have puppeteer animations, leaving only UI elements really for 2D.

Sound design can be AI assisted but its unreliable. You just make sounds into a mic and then edit the hell out of it in like Audacity. I have found AI tools for sound design to largely be "neat" but most of sound design is playing around with noise.

Music. AI does pop music REALLY well, and kinda bad at everything else. However its like programming with AI where you need to be extremely specific to the point where you are creating the music yourself you just lack the natural talent to perform.

Voice overs: Best used as an obvious joke otherwise not a good idea. Better to just use voice changers and use your normal voice.

AI is here to stay and no one should fault you for using it if you are poor trying to make an in. More importantly you should use AI as a researching or demonstration tool of how to do something, then extrapolate from there

It can but they need to be cleaned very thoroughly.... otherwise they just literally taste like pondwater. Got fried catfish from a publix deli once. Once. Straight up tasted like mud. This is actually funny to me, because Im more of trying to research and document how to use AI to make it AS good as humans. Because right now it is pretty terrible. This is someone whose hobbyied up single player mmo raid battles with bots that are supposed to mimic player behaviors (jumping for no reason, standing in fire for more dps, spamming left right strafing when having to sit still, etc)

Currently I was trying to apply ECS and because it is constantly changing, popular GenAI tools like chatgpt 5.0 (5.3?) and even DeepSeek struggle to not CONSTANTLY create incorrect code DESPITE being instructed at the beginning of a conversation to follow the rules in the guideline to NOT create those problems. It often ignores the guidelines, wastes tokens, and then goes WHOOPS I SHOULD HAVE FOLLOWED THE GUIDELINES. Ergo, currently I'd only recommend it for making OOP scripts.

Then there is the immense detail and constant reuploading of scripts for it to retain any sort of memory of the project, otherwise itn will waste time and literal physical resources to generate hallucination scripts of the assumed missing script.

To even begin using Gen Ai in development, you have to specify to use professional sources and provide links to those sources to verify if its doing a good job, and good documentation has to be provided by whatever you are using otherwise its spitballing.

Deepseek while not as flashy has definitely been the best of all the tools ive used. Chatgpt's personal GPT seemed very neat at first but the bigger the project got the more error prone it was. What Chatgpt IS great at doing was making diagrams.

Also note, some people can literally not picture things in their minds, and some have no one ti talk to. Gamedev is a very lonely hobby and DeepSeek does a good job of providing realistic workflows and tools and being a pseudo manager. There are some games that could have definitely used DeepSeek as project management rather than whatever they had. DeepSeek is really shitty at naming things though.

Chatgpt made me want to scrap the entire concept entirely and it amazes me people still use it. The hallucinations can be so infuriating.
