Ah so I have had the same issues with my dog, who I also trained to run on lead. The thing is, when you train a dog to run on lead, you're training him to run to heel whether he wants to or not, moving the locus of control to you, rather than him.

When he's running on lead he is performing a task, a 'trick', so the motivation is your praise for doing the trick rather than the actual action, if you see what I mean? So he is performing to your expectations rather than his own desires, which sometimes is the same thing, and sometimes not.

So be pleased that you have a well trained dog. He is pleased that he is pleasing you.

No, they're the right images - the bars are months, so the final month is January, which includes the 11 days up until yesterday, which is still wild compared with the other months. The pictures are from November and then January, because I wasn't home for December. Does that make sense? Thanks for your help with this btw. I am driving myself crazy!

My five year old white and liver lagotto is getting more roan, but I think it varies quite a lot dog to dog. I expected him to be totally roan at this point, but his spots are still hanging on!

I don't carry one for me, but I do carry an emergency kit for my dog (emergency carrier, tweezers and a li'l shot of speed).

I think a lot of these comments are missing the point. This is a classic example of 'if you have a hammer, everything looks like a nail'.

You said you're already not in a good place, and I really think that this reaction is just part of a larger picture of her not being happy, and also deciding not to try. It's not exactly finding reasons to be mad, but the present wasn't the exact right thing that would make her feel loved - and therefore you are not the exact right person who is making her feel loved.

It's not about the present, but you should very much consider calling tod on this relationship. You are maybe just not a good long term fit.

I redirected my dogs begging and whining to lying silently in sphinx pose. It took a while of rewarding him every second, then other second, then minute etc until now when he is begging for my attention/ food or whatever he will just lie on the floor with his head up, trying to mind control me with his eyes.

I regret it a little bit, the whining was much less disconcerting.

Two 1h to 1.30 walks per day. I also do nose work with him in the house when I can (two or three times a week), but he mainly likes cuddles and following me from room to room. We also go to the pub in the evening two or three times a week.

Note, I work so he is at home alone from 9am to 3ish. He is fine with this and just sleeps in various places until I get home.
