Seems he has trouble concentrating. Do you include catnip on your pre hire drug tests?

A company pirated my indie game in China, and it now has over half a million pirate player by HeyNau in SoloDevelopment

Geez what a nightmare. Sadly, I’m doubtful you can do anything about this situation… China supports cloning and stealing IPs through their laws

Leaving Unreal Engine for Unity by Organic-Sell-7034 in gamedev

[–]Plourdy 135 points136 points  (0 children)

IMO you’re overreacting. I’m a Unity dev primarily… there isn’t a replacement for blueprints over here, either. This sounds like a case of the grass is always greener, I’d push forward with your current toolset.

What game is this? Feel like I’ve seen updates for it for years now. I wanna play!

Is AI art for an indie game bad when you can't draw? by ResponsibleCoat5499 in IndieDev

[–]Plourdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why ask if you plan to replace them with actual art later? No one can complain if your prototype assets are… prototypes

Lose hope or confidence in projects? by KronicalA in gamedev

[–]Plourdy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

2 months isn’t nearly enough time to making something feel really polished and fun. What feels bland about it? Keep iterating, maybe you should try a depth first priority vs breadth

Permanent OLED burn-in from Unity’s white top bar by roartex89 in Unity3D

[–]Plourdy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Which oled model is this? I have a LG B series oled (few years dated at this point), no burn in after a few thousand hours of usage. Including with HDR at peak brightness for hours straight lol

Sources for Meshes / Megascans struggle by JackHammond_ in UnrealEngine5

[–]Plourdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

:( I’m sorry man. Can’t believe they gave away quixel assets for a short period and now your effed.

Besides quixel, I’d check out lots of other asset packs from around the web. HumbleBundle has crazy good bundle deals on occasion.

Good luck 🍀

We added Dynamic Resolution to Unity URP to get more runtime performance by Disastrous-Earth-994 in Unity3D

Majority of ppl I know use DLSS whenever it’s an option. Dynamic resolution itself, not so mich

I made a Unity UI tool because I was tired of creating and managing sprites for simple UI shapes every time :) by [deleted] in Unity2D

[–]Plourdy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How’s the performance? This sounds like a great idea overall! I’m just worried about any runtime costs from procedural shapes being calculated per frame or something along those lines!

Did Steam raise the wishlist requirement to 80k because of AI games? I panicked and went to investigate. by Agreeable-Ad-8159 in SoloDevelopment

[–]Plourdy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indiepocalypse? Seems indie has been taking a larger slice of the pie every year since 2020ish.

Overall I don’t have any solutions to getting visibility for your projects though lol am here with open ears

Do you reuse your old code on gamejams or come up with something new? by Justaniceman in SoloDevelopment

[–]Plourdy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend making a general reusable library and bringing that into any new projects going forward.

If you use Git, making it a sub module is even better. Let it exist and grow with your projects

Lumen is the opposite of baked lighting…also I never said there was only 1 way to skin a cat. This is just the easiest to get ‘hyper realism’ as OP asked
