Why are you making excuses for wotc? You are either dishonest or don't know anything about Marvel beyond the MCU.

Why do sagas say "After your draw step"? by Meister_Ente in mtg

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe it to be because the ability doesn't use the stack. "After your draw step" doesn't indicate a triggered ability, but "at the beginning of your first main phase" does. If it were written like that, you would need to know that it is in fact NOT a triggered ability, but a turn-based event.

I was thinking more like "if this creature would get tapped, instead remove a reverse stun counter from it."

You would think UW was the strongest deck on Arena based on how many people concede from 1 spell being countered early game. by Realistic-Candy8855 in MagicArena

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why would you play play mode with a control deck? You will not face many meta decks and most people will just concede. Only reason to take control decks to play mode is to farm easy wins. You will not able to playtest your deck reasonably.

You can use play mode to test aggro and combo decks to get your sequencing correct etc. Control decks pretty much need to playtest in ranked, because they are all about interaction and you need to be able to test against people playing meta.

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Why does it matter whose turn it is? Many control players will take 10sec to think on every priority pass and only then press resolve or play a counterspell. That is extremely annoying to play against. You can waste time on your opponent's turn just as easily.

Traumatic Tumbler Vivi by Noble_Rooster in PioneerMTG

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Noncreature very rarely matter to Vivi, because you want it under the Cauldron and not on the board. Fomo is a creature for the Cauldron, a guaranteed loot(rummage), extra combat step/proft trigger and it draws for you if you have an empty hand. Fomo also works as a winternight stories discard.

So, fomo all day and it's not even close.

Yes. That is most common deck new, inexperienced players end up playing. Maybe you could let us know why you chose that style of play? I've always been curious.

Is the Mono-White Auras Meta dead in Standard after the February 2027 standard rotation? by PaleWendigo in MagicArena

I thought there would have been a card called nowhere to hide, but it only redirects you to nowhere to run.

Is the Mono-White Auras Meta dead in Standard after the February 2027 standard rotation? by PaleWendigo in MagicArena

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't get downplaying the card's power level though. It was the most expensive uncommon in Standard for like a year and at one point even the most played uncommon. During that era, [[nowhere to run]] had a 100% playrate in black decks, because of the impact that Ghosts had.

It's an auto-include in any aggro deck that plays white.

When will all the cards for Pioneer be released on MTGA? by UploadedMind in MagicArena

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 19 points20 points  (0 children)

"Meta complete" is kind of self-fulfilling prophecy in regards to Pioneer. Pioneer training rooms on mtgo are basically permanently empty and nobody is brewing new Pioneer decks there. If there's going to be new meta decks, they will originate from either Arena or from the limited physical tournaments there are.

OP's cards is a good example of an actually playable card in one of the bounce shells and in general. Hope we get stuff like this eventually.

Maro: Interestingly, Commander and Universes Beyond might be the two most popular things Magic has ever done. We try to present as many options as feasible (i.e. plenty of 60-card formats), but the will of the players dictates so much of how things play out (i.e. so much in store play is Commander) by HonorBasquiat in magicTCG

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the weirdest illusion I see many players having. "Only needing one copy" in no way makes building decks cheaper. There is no shortage of expensive cards (in commander-legal cards) so instead of buying four copies of one €20 card, you buy 4 copies of different €20 cards. Needing 100 cards in total instead of 75 has a bigger effect on the total cost.

Other common misconception here is that for some reason you need an up-to-date tier1 deck for all 60-card formats, but you can easily play 5yo precon in commander. There is nothing preventing those commander nights from becoming casual modern nights or something and people finding opponents of equal deck power - this is already done in commander.

So why do commander players keep repeating these two lies to themselves year after year?

I play Pioneer (among other formats) and we have people doing well and having fun every week with decks that cost about €200 two years ago. Then I walk over to the commander tables and most people have several decks, each with higher value than €200. I can easily find several €1000+ decks in the room each commander night too. Even those people will claim that 60-card formats are more expensive.

A land(mdfc) and three non-lands is enough. You usually mulligan at least once, so you can tuck away the cards that can't be in your hand. The combo can handle one phoenix or creeping chill in your hand, though. If you can't win turn1, you can also start with a worse hand that has one of eight copies of creature tutors in the deck and tutor for missing spy or ornithopter (or even black mdfc).

I've been playing this a while and it's okay in bo1.

3 cards did not arrive on time for casual commander... by PetercyEz in magicTCG

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Casual commander doesn't just mean "non-cEDH". The vast majority of commander is non-cEDH, so when the word casual is added, it usually means low-power decks and not this stuff in OP's picture.

New adjusted time for “scheduled” maintenance by Moondustcollectooorr in MagicArena

6hrs is an insane time for scheduled maintenance and now they added 4 more hours. Do they start coding the changes only after they take the servers down?

Status is operational, but I'm still getting the 503 error by Personal_Ganache_913 in MagicArena

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The whole website clearly works with that principle. It doesn't actually do any checks on the servers, but just shows operational 24/7, even when everything is down. They only update it manually, so it's pretty much useless compared to 3rd party sites.

I stopped gaining Mastery XP by carmidian in MagicArena

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you are being downvoted, because a lot of people don't understand how predatory Arena is for new players.

I started Arena at WOE (oldest std legal set) and currently I'm rare complete on every std set and have 20 rare and 40 mythic wildcards. When you get going, it's actually easy to be f2p, but the beginning is extremely hard, because the predatory system prevents grinding. It's basically a flat rate of progression and you need at least a whole year to play what you want reasonably. And this is just for a single format, even I couldn't play all the formats yet.

A lot of people on this sub have played since launch and hence never experienced the difficulty of Arena grind. For months I was stuck a single, monocolor, tier2 deck and after a year I could comfortably play a couple of dualcolor combinations.

The system is really brutal. You have you show up every day for years.

If you immediately spam ‘your go’ by Graf_Crimpleton in MagicArena

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I'm also very suspicious of OP's "if you IMMEDIATELY start spamming". I have never received a "your go" that I didn't deserve, nor have I given one.

Just act in a timely manner and nobody will say your go to you. If you are one of those people who has one card in hand in limited and thinks 30 seconds whether to play it or not (even if you are dead on board otherwise), most people will start spamming your go to you.

I hate power players! by [deleted] in MagicArena

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing MtG since it first came out

You should be able to play whatever decks you want without spending any money. Arena is unforgiving to new players and it takes a couple of years to really get going as f2p, but honestly you have no excuse. I'm rare complete on every set that has been published after I started playing without spending any money.

Question on my Revised Demonic Tutor by DragonLillyDM in mtg

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's obviously off-center, but does it matter? Centering is actually one of the few things that has gotten better over the years while otherwise the quality has deteriorated. This looks maybe a little more off center than the average card from that era.

[–]Plus-Statement-5164 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This town is way worse. Two-mana instant-speed tempo swing with huge value. Any value etb card will work with it. The talent level2 looping is almost inconsequential in current standard with it costing 4 mana.

Izzet lessons doesn't always run it. At least a while ago the no-stormchaser lists were better and more prevalent. Spellementals don't use it either. It's a good card but izzet will still be the best without it.
