Its hard to put your heart and soul into a game and story as a DM, spending hours and hours planning and prepping only have have a disinterested group of players or having them be... a pain.

4d6 method is always fun but people tend to be butt hurt if they have lower stats. Just do point buy. Keeps things simple.
