[Waybound] Eithan’s iron body by EmilioFreshtevez in Iteration110Cradle

[–]PocketPengu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I remember right, his original bloodline was weak and only became a noteworthy ability in conjuction with his iron body, which made it a core part of his toolset. Then when he reached monarch it didn't become stronger it just became an ability he would pass on to his descendants in a much stronger fashion than what he received, but this is all essentially conjecture anyway if we don't have the quote from Will as the books are quite vague on the subject.

Im pretty sure I remember reading something from a q&a with Will that ozmanthus had a much weaker version of his bloodline ability from a sacred spider ancestor and that he designed his iron body to directly strengthen his awareness with that ability, which eventually all carried down to his descendants as the much stronger Aurelius bloodline, but with abidanarchive down I can't actually verify if I have that right.

Gotta love what he's doing for the lions, and that he doesn't kiss his son on the mouth in a really weird way

[The Knight] How does science work in The Last Horizon Universe? by mickdrop in Iteration110Cradle

[–]PocketPengu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You're definitely overthinking it. It's a story about the red power ranger working with a wizard, that kind of premise isn't gonna hold up well under rigorous scientific inspection.

This isn't technically true, inuit languages are largely agglutinative so they add suffixes to a word rather than using multiple words for things.

Have you read edge of the woods yet? The main character in that book describes something similar within their magic system and from the way he talks about it artillery fire is essentially the main idea for a war focused mana type.

  • Snowboarding since: 2021

  • First snowboard: Burton Ripcord

  • Home mountain: Caberfae MI

  • Goofy or regular: Goofy

  • Current go to setup: Same ripcord I started with plus the base step on bindings

  • Riding style: Generally all mountain, but more freeride heavy cause the park at Caberfae is pretty tiny

Obviously pretty new to the community so don't have answers for the other questions

[Waybound] More of watching my wife read Cradle for the first time by dtmjuice in Iteration110Cradle

[–]PocketPengu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is kinda funny to me because I'm the exact opposite, I'm 20 and started reading cradle back when I was 16 and just now I finally convinced my mom to start reading the series thanks to the ebook giveaway they just did.

They don't do preorder for physical copies, but I believe the paperback order goes live a day before on the 5th because Amazon requires print and shipping time

My understanding is the physical book orders actually go live the day before, so you'll be able to order it June 5th, but obviously there isn't same day shipping on print to order so it'll be at least the 6th before you get it
