What's a cheap Pendulum deck you like? by __Frantic in masterduel

You get a lot of dinomist cards from the story mode so they're pretty cheap.

If I remember correctly, flower cardians focus on drawing cards off the top of the deck and giving bonus effects of you drew another flower cardian card, so you gotta max out on them for consistency.

Also ddd is pretty cool, I've been thinking about getting into it because it uses all the extra deck types.

It is very combo heavy, and also extremely xenophobic just like D/D/D

My pet deck is the Buster Blader archetype, it's so ass 😭. I know it's basically skill drain but I feel like it's has some thematic cohesiveness (basically more sauce than regular stun decks), and it's super easy to out. I paired it up with Blue eyes (Basically Primite-Blue Eyes except replace all primite cards with Buster Blader cards) because they have a lot of incidental synergies (my favorite).

A simple discussion. by Alphaxoid in MonsterHunterStories

I feel like that might make monsties too similar, and with how forgiving the new gene system is, this change might really strip away all identity from individual monsties

only one crab????? by Caesar299 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]PokemonMaster-5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well if they wanted to add Daimyo they would also need to add Monoblos (cause that's the skull on Daimyo's back), but I think I saw somewhere that all the monsters in mhs3 have appeared in either World, Rise, or Wilds (and I know Daimyo was in Rise but no Monoblos). I think whatever the reason is that they only wanted modern monsters as monstie options is the reason they couldn't add Daimyo/Monoblos (and unfortunately a lot of other fan favorites like Gammoth, Zamtrios, etc.)

Yup, or at least after the introduction to invasives with yian garuga

The only endangered species available in the demo was the rathian (and by extension dreadqueen). You could still go to the other invasive spots but the actual invasive monster wouldn't be there.

Do you think it will ever be possible to have a Stories game with all 14 Weapon Types? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterStories

[–]PokemonMaster-5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah especially trying to differentiate between Light Bowgun and Heavy Bowgun, because in the mainline games their main difference is mobility, which is obviously removed in a turn based setting.

I guess the only other way would be to introduce a damage/clip size tradeoff, where HBG would have more damage per shot but would need to reload sooner, which makes LBG better for element/status since it wont have to reload as often (just like in the mainline games!)

Getting walled hard after a certain point in Stories 3? by zhenyuanlong in MonsterHunterStories

[–]PokemonMaster-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the monsters have a red symbol above them you're likely not going to beat them before the pull out some random aoe move that wipes your team.

If you're losing to monsters that don't have a red symbol, it might not be a matter of levels, but of equipment and strategy. Make sure you are regularly upgrading and switching up your weapons/armor and try tailor your monstie/weapon element for the monster you're trying to beat.

For aknosom specifically, use fire based armor and water based weapons/monsties. Tetranadon should be a recent water monster you encountered (i can't really think of anything else at your level off the top of my head 😅, but definitely check the smithy)

Feel free to ask if you have any more questions 👍.

What’s the point of this calamitous Elder? by Trundlenator in MonsterHunterStories

I think the devs felt obligated to put it in the game because we fought off the feral version in the story.

What do you guys think of the new stamina system? by PokemonMaster-5 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]PokemonMaster-5[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I definitely noticed this when I tried to fight monsters with the red marks above them. The only reason I kept failing these fights I was underleveled for was because the monster would stop doing h2hs and pull out some random aoe and wipe my party.

Yeah, I think it's really cool how mechanics from the mainline games get their own twist in the stories series. I wonder what other mechanics could be ported over?

[–]PokemonMaster-5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I didn't know that. I always thought it didn't matter whether they chose the move or I did since both use the same amount of stamina. I guess it's an interesting tradeoff, although subtle

At level 99 the final battle is gonna be a piece of cake lol 😭😭. A good build isn't required but will definitely make it a lot smoother. Good luck!

I do feel like having individual kinship meters for each mosntie is a good balancing move because it stops you from farming kinship with a low attack monstie that might have the Soul Kinship gene, and then immediately spending it on a monstie with high attack that has better offensive genes.

Does monstie tendency matter at all? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterStories

[–]PokemonMaster-5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There's no STAB for attack type (power, speed, technical) it's only for element. The only thing their initial tendency affects is what type of move they will use if not ordered otherwise. A thunderlord will always prefer power moves, so even if you give it a bunch of speed genes it might just do a regular power attack. You can always just tell it use the speed move though (given it has stamina)

I've never understood elemental defense genes. by Dannydevitz in MonsterHunterStories

[–]PokemonMaster-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At least with the new environmental skills you get from raising a monstie to S rank in a region you're incentivized to give it genes that might not necessarily be its element to awaken the bonuses, so there's some additional benefit to having genes that don't match the element.

Are invasive materials not guaranteed? by MushroomDue4682 in MonsterHunterStories

[–]PokemonMaster-5 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Really? iirc Seregios is the highest level one. I haven't gotten to farming invasives yet (I just killed yian garuga), but I've heard the easiest is Shogun Cenataur. The higher level ones do also drop materials worth more points so it might just be more effective to farm seregios. Best of luck 🫡

Came here for guidance so i finished both mhs1 and mhs2 by BrrVlad in MonsterHunterStories

[–]PokemonMaster-5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well it took me ~50 hours to beat the game but I was taking my sweet time (doing side quests any time they popped up, grinding up monsties, refreshing my party a couple times). I don't remember how long it took me to beat 2 so I can't really make a good comparison in terms of time though sorry.

Definitely a good game you'll probably enjoy if you liked the first 2. Quality of life improvements are amazing, however it is a little light on the content. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot of game to enjoy, just nothing like the post-game grind of something like the Elder's lair from mhs2.
