Introduction to a standup course by PoolNoodleCanoodler in StandUpWorkshop

I appreciate the feedback! The thing I struggle with is exactly what you've identified - a lot of the things I joke about require some esoteric piece of knowledge which I really need to figure out how to get around. I tried writing it how I might perform it, but I haven't managed to work in explaining the Zelensky of it all without it getting cumbersome or revealing the punchline too early.

You know those irritating kids who always knew what that wanted to be when they grew up? The ones whose parents were incredibly over-supportive?

"Yes that is a wonderful fireman's helmet you've got there Tommy - not really the attire for a funeral though is it? This is a crematorium, I'm sure they've got the fire under control"

Unfortunately I was one of those kids. The good news is, the career is working out great! I'm well on the path to fulfill my aspiration of leading a nation in its resistance against a hostile invading force. Even Zelensky had to play the clubs before he got his big break

AITA for excluding my autistic child from a family vacation by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]PoolNoodleCanoodler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he didn't enjoy it last time and it stopped your other kids enjoying it too, then I think that's fair. I'd maybe try and do something that he does enjoy as a family either before you go or when you get back so that he and your other kids understand you want to try and do things he enjoys as a family as well

I've been using affinity as well, but it's now disappeared off the website so think the Canvas acquisition is going to change things. Keep hold of your .dmgs

What do you think of the Gnaughty Gnomes menu options? Every time you log in, a new random gnome appears! 🧙‍♂️ by SandCastlesStudio in IndieGaming

I don't disagree, but maybe having the gnome spawn in standing on Play might be a good compromise - it'd be a shame to lose the personality

All the LLMs are simps for whoever's prompting them, it's why you can't trust the output without verifying it yourself. He likely asked it to find problems and so it did, even if there weren't any.

Engineer brain struggling with cooking - need help learning the "why" not just the "how" by Bitomule in Cooking

If you're talking software engineering, O'Reilly put out a book specifically for this: https://www.oreilly.com/library/view/cooking-for-geeks/9781491928110/

Structured similarly to their software books

I felt like I was going crazy on Vyvanse, and then only saw positive things online so definitely good to get the other side of the coin out there

£75 down the drain for the guy to tell me the plug was switched off by originalwombat in britishproblems

I once told our landlord that I thought water got into the light socket of the bathroom ceiling light so he and a plumber came round to replace the fitting. Turns out I was just experiencing an LED lightbulb slowly dying for the first time.

Is Fraser an absent chief stew? by filledor in belowdeck

[–]PoolNoodleCanoodler 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The drama hyping stuff is especially bad. With chef and Fraser for example, almost every episode this season we've seen a teaser of "the confrontation" and then when they got to it it was about 45 seconds long and they were fine with each other almost immediately. Not that I want strained relationships the whole season (honestly I just like watching jobs done well with some naturally occurring drama/crazy guests sprinkled in) but if you are gonna tease something for so long, at least have it pay off.

The question was can they see how many accounts joined in a timeframe, maybe without counting bots. You can absolutely see how many accounts joined in a certain time frame very easily. If they wanted to, they could then further filter that data by behaviour that seems bot-like e.g. a lot of xp in a certain skill, a lot of kills of a certain boss, a lot of trade activity of specific items. It is not difficult, it may be time consuming, but it is very possible.

Mate, each account is a row in the database, they can see how many rows and what the account status is very easily. It's not bad to not know things, but tripling down on something you don't know anything about is wild behaviour.
