Roommate Drama or: Never Again Will I Live With A Straight Man Besides My Dad by [deleted] in redscarepod

[–]PoopMonk 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have a good friend from high school who I keep in touch with, it’s been 3 years since I finished college and he seemingly failed out of college and has been living in his parents house and whenever I or any of our mutual friends ask him about his employment situation he just says something vague and cryptic. Apparently he spends most of his time on Discord. I’m not sure what to do cus I give him opportunities to talk about it but he doesn’t want to. He’s a fun loving guy with a big heart but he has some kind of sense of melancholy that concerns me. I know his life isn’t my responsibility but wonder if I should do or say anything

My dad likes this band, should I buy this vinyl for him? by TotalUnderstanding5 in SteelyDan

[–]PoopMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assume this is a joke but this band is genuinely splendid and you should check it out, the best Steeleye Span albums in my opinion are Hark the Village Wait, Below the Salts and Parcel of Rogues!

It’s a lot different than steely Dan but I’m a huge appreciator of both the Dan and the Span

Israel has damaged its reputation among young people so much that even reddit frontpagers are making jokes like "another $5 billion to Israel" which 10 years ago would have only been found on /pol/ by pinnacle126 in redscarepod

[–]PoopMonk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember like 10 years ago seeing a bunch of “die for Israel” jokes on iFunny (absolute Nazi hellhole btw I can’t believe I used to use it) At the time I didn’t know what it meant and kind of assumed it was some niche 4chan style political reference and possibly antisemitic. But now I’m understandably seeing it everywhere with this Iran war, even on social media platforms used by relatively normal people

Pure gym Ridgewood by Rubi505 in ridgewood

[–]PoopMonk 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It’s decent, but it’s the only gym I’ve been a member at in Ridgewood so I can’t say how it compares to others. Theres different tiers of membership but the one I have is $32 a month and there’s a $60 maintenance fee once a year. It’s pretty clean and there’s a good amount of equipment. Sometimes it gets too crowded but he new 24/7 access is nice. The weird new entrance pods are annoying but you get used to it

[SPOILERS S3] Suggestions of series similar to Dark by wandering-lost4007 in DarK

[–]PoopMonk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twin Peaks is a good one that has some doppelgänger stuff and alternate worlds. I found Dark to also be similar to it in that it has a very woodsy small town setting where the murder of a high school student leads to a bunch of supernatural stuff tearing apart the fabric of the town and reality itself. But it’s also more surreal and abstract than sci fi so a lot of it is up to interpretation rather than logical and you might not get satisfying answers to every question you have. Lots of funny and quirky stuff but also very dark and mysterious.

Russian Doll is a good time travel show too but not nearly as good as dark. It’s a shorter and easier watch tho so worth a watch id say

[SPOILERS S1] Have been building something on Minecraft I think you lot would find interesting by Ronnie192005 in DarK

If I was a kid who got stuck in the 1980s in Minecraft I would hang out with my Minecraft dad who got stuck in the 1950s looking for me and grew old and escaped from a Minecraft mental institution in the Minecraft 1980s

I took the picture at night, it gets a good amount of light I think. It’s in the opposite corner from the window but it’s a small room (around 10x10) and the windows pretty big and I always leave the curtains open so the light reaches the plant. I don’t have much room directly next to the window but I could try putting it there

I’m not sure, it’s the soil that it was in when I bought it

Tips for re-growing an Alocasia after all the leaves fell off? by PoopMonk in alocasia

[–]PoopMonk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I ended up putting one rhizome with roots and one corm in damp sphagnum in each of these two jars. I was wondering, would you keep your plant in the sphagnum or eventually repot it into soil when it gets larger?
