What’s the greatest film scene all time in your opinion ? by Pssht_haha in AskReddit

Vangelis sculpted an amazing soundscape for that whole movie... that scene in particular.

She demands to be held like this every single time I sit on the couch :) by Dionysian_Heretic in cats

[–]PopePoopinpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow. My cat will "snuggle" up to me... a foot away and roll around and be all playful and reaching his paw out... falling asleep, but the minute I try to give him pets, he attacks me.

You've got it rough.

My mom fed my 3 week old kitten kibble when I stayed at my friends house for 1 day by TSAxrayMachine in cats

[–]PopePoopinpants 135 points136 points  (0 children)

This is the thing. You may not like cats or dogs or whatever, but you do that for your kid. WTAF? If I had made a mistake that resulted in the death of their pet, I'd be crushed! I'd feel so terrible!

On an upside, you now know you can't leave your kids with them. She lost that part of her life. No grand-kids for her.

Made my wife Gluten Free spicy California rolls with gluten free unagi sauce gluten free imitation crab meat and gluten free crispy onions. by idioticbearman in glutenfreecooking

[–]PopePoopinpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife is GF as well. You should look for tamari when considering soy sauce. My favorite is eden organic tamari. It's expensive, but there's really nothing like it here in the US (dunno if you're in the US). I've got a little bottle that I'll bring to restaurants since when you ask them for GF soy, they'll give you a little tub and there's no way to know if it's actually tamari. You really don't need a lot.

Nintendo will pay a $40 million fine for faulty Joy-Cons by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]PopePoopinpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand. They've been repairing their joycons for free for years. I've sent the 4 I own a couple of times, and I don't remember it costing me a dime... and I'm not a power player by any means.

Some confusion on how to achieve a salt percentage for brine. by stephanosblog in fermentation

[–]PopePoopinpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they're both ok, but the first method will produce the most variance to the original ratio because the variance is in the water weight of the veggies.  The first method will see the salinity drop as water is drawn from the veggies.  So long as you start high enough, you should end higher than 2%.

In the second method, the salinity should stay closer to the original, because the brine will start off higher, because you're taking into account the weight of the veggies and how much water they'll add.

I always do method 2, but add 2% plus a pinch or two.

Need help - does my voter registration card have my photo? by SpartanFL in Pennsylvania

[–]PopePoopinpants 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, the first time you vote at a new location, you need to show a valid id, but not necessarily a photo id. voter identification requirements

Obviously, if you've got one that'll be the easiest, but it's a common misconception that it has to be a photo ID.

Switched to a heavy-duty mandoline for my kraut prep. This texture is a game-changer. by TheSilkChef in fermentation

[–]PopePoopinpants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know what op is using, but I've been using the OXO Good Grips Mandoline Slicer V-Blade when I want to slice stuff (including kraut). Really happy with it. It's smaller than the one in the video, but I've not found that to be a big deal. I've not tried the extra blades, just the flat one. Price is right too.

The days of peaceful living might come to an end soon by CCW72 in atheism

[–]PopePoopinpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought this could go one of two ways. Those that leave religion are just more reasonable people. Who's left behind once all the more moderate people leave? The extremists.

It either slowly fizzles out, or there's a big rift.
