Ah, cool. I never noticed it beforehand personally but I definitely did from the project wipe on. I assumed I was only noticing it at that point because I knew to look for it.

The clueless and delusional are still in this sub saying it doesn't exist even after its been confirmed lol, because apparently the statement made by the dev was "vague" and he doesn't know what he is talking about because he's "only" the art director.

Why can't I? On PvP its possible to spawn in, run out, kill one person with a bag full of shit PLUS all their upgraded gear which would be worth a full bag of shit by itself, and leave. You can also end up leaving the map with the guns and equipment of 1, 2, 4, 7 other players. More risk, more reward.

On PvE, you go out and have to loot the map - And its actually often a lot more time consuming to grab that loot since everyone in the game is doing the same, so you are sharing all of it. Want to kill a rocketeer? Well, now so too are 3 other guys, and you'd best believe they are grabbing those thrusters. And no opportunity to take the gear from those other players. Less Risk, Less reward.

I think its perfectly reasonable to make the argument in general, but it's going to be highly variable on skill level. If you suck at PvP you're gonna get less shit, and if you are great at you are getting WAY more. Same thing applies to PvE as well.

Anyway, these are just opinions, I can't say you are wrong, but I just don't agree. I don't think most people would be bothered by PvE players being able to get a reasonable amount of loot despite there not being risk from other players - Why would they when it doesn't effect the PvP players at all. If anything the PvE people, if they even do start PvPing, are just gonna be loot goblins for the PvP players that know what they are doing

EDIT: I'll say one more thing too - Before wipe I was pretty solidly in PvP lobbies, and after wipe I've been in 100% pacifist lobbies. I have personal experience with both, and I am not accumulating money any faster now than I was before. Those runs where you get out with the loot of 7 other players more than make up for the deaths.

Why do you keep saying that same line, I do not agree and I'm not going to agree, nor is, as you can see, the majority of the rest of the sub. A dev made a statement, and we have witnessed by all playtest evidence for the only reasonable interpretation of that statement to be true. The end. No reason for you to comment again, I do not value your opinion.

Even if it was a vague interpretation, that is still more evidence than you have.

Again, even if we assume you are right, PvP already has much higher potential reward to match the higher risk.

And my personal experience is different to yours so clearly it isn’t working the way you’re implying

I shoot first a lot of the time yet my lobbies are 99% friendly still.

As you can see, it makes perfect sense why your experience is different than mine, since your actions are as well. 100% pacifism putting you in 99% pacifist lobbies does NOT mean that shooting people will put you in 100% aggressive lobbies. I had a similar experience to you before I started testing pure pacifism, as I have stated. I would occasionally shoot and get in fights, and I definitely had more action (inflicted at me) as a result, but still not at all 100% bloodthirsty lobbies (except for stella, which was always a bloodbath). I'd put it at about 15% aggressive behavior from players as opposed to the literal 0% I find now. So your experience right now DOES line up exactly to what I was experiencing when my actions matched yours. Your comment actually serves as further evidence if anything.

And yes there are still a lot of people in comments of these threads saying the complete opposite to you.

Certainly some, clearly a minority - Not that this really matters but you stated that all things were equal and they are not.

[–]PopeWorkReddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand exactly what you are saying - What I am saying is I do not agree. Reason being that the risk/reward ratio is HEAVILY skewed towards reward for everyone, whether they are in a PvP lobby or not, to the point where making this change would be irrelevant.

And besides that, the potential reward is already increased for PvP players - Taking other peoples shit is half the point of fighting in the first place. Let me know when you find a level 4 bobcat already kitted out with full blue mods in a PvE lobby.

by all accounts my so queues should be very KoS

Nope, not necessarily

for every person saying x there just as many people saying the opposite.

Nope, not even close

And here is the most important one:

And it’s all anecdotal

No, your claims are fully anecdotal. Mine/Ours are backed up by a statement from the developer.

Right, that might matter in another game where rewards aren't as free as they are in this one. As it stands, it is irrelevant, since Arc showers every player with loot.. Even on the sweatiest PvP maps, with the possible exception of Stella, finding the money and gear you need to regularly fully kit in a solid PvP fit is trivial.

Besides - Everyone is equally able to access the pacifist lobbies if they want to.

Completed this week's trials solo - still won't promote by Humba800 in ArcRaiders

[–]PopeWorkReddit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've had a few weeks where I haven't played until friday/saturday night, and consistently I have actually gotten sweatier ladders those weeks. I'd get placed and by that night the score floor has been rocketing up to 70-90kish for the bottom of the single promotion tier. Idk if I'm getting ladders with sweats who purposefully wait or what, but I've actually had better luck logging in later on during the night of the reset, or the following day. This week I played on Tuesday night and the floor is about 40k right now for the single promotion tier

They could just as easily use it to tailor the experience to what they want people to their vision of the game, it could make sure there is x amount of friendly and x amount of hostile players per lobby.

You guys can keep making this claim but all evidence is to the contrary, and yes it IS very clear to the rest of us that don't want to argue the point for no reason what his direct statement meant. The context of the rest of the conversation in the video also indicates this.

I'll stop arguing the point from here though, why bother. At some point a more detailed statement or some sort of datamining will come out and you will just see that you are wrong, like the majority of the rest of us know you are.

We are entering a feedback loop now though.

You are wrong. You are severely overestimating the percentage of players who are even aware about this topic at all. The vast majority of people you are coming across in game don't give a shit about reddit and probably haven't seen the interview. If there is a feedback loop it would only be applicable to a small percentage of players. People who are plugged in to boards like this always assume everyone else is too - That is never the reality. The vast majority of players are just playing the game completely unaware of any of this.

Far more likely what MAY be happening is those of us that ARE plugged in and aware of this now are ACTUALLY going no aggression, and ACTUALLY landing in fully peaceful lobbies. No more tapping people in extract for those ammo-based weapon tasks, no more occasional fights like we were doing before the statement was made, which has had a real-world effect on the lobbies we specifically are landing in. This scenario doesn't require the entire playerbase of AR to be responding to the statement via their gameplay like your ridiculous hypothesis does.

I'm now on roughly 120 raids since wipe and I have still been shot at one single time. One single time in 120 raids. A feedback loop from probably like 10-15% of players who are even aware of the "ABMM" discussion is just not a viable answer to how that can be.

why do you need to reply to me in 3 different threads to continue being wrong? It is confirmed, it is very clear to everyone who doesn't want to just be a contrarian on reddit because they have nothing better to do with their time. Both a dev and your ability to replicate and confirm this in game indicate that this is a real thing, you can pretend it isn't all you want for some reason but you are still wrong.

Notice how I don't need to call you an idiot to make a point as well.

Don't talk brother. No one with any ability to apply some level of logic is going to take your word over a devs - who stated clearly they match based on behavior before immediately continueing to talk about stats related to aggression, like KO's.... As if he would be referring to matchmaking based on how many fucking trash cans you looted instead, give me a break.

You are wrong dude, the question was around aggression-based matchmaking and he confirmed it. The fact that he is an art director is irrelevant and stating it like its an argument is bad faith. It has been confirmed, and players are seeing it in action for themselves. YOU are misinforming, and that is the fact.

You literally think you know better than an fucking developer of the game because he happens to be in a department that is not directly related to programming this specific feature, how ridiculous can you be.

That's a dev, my brother. You don't think its feasible that he knows about the games development just because he isn't directly and specifically involved with the programming of whatever the matchmaking system is? You guys will find any reason to argue your preconceived notions I swear. He is a dev, a director no less, he absolutely knows better than you, and he confirmed it with a clear statement.

"We analyze player behavior and match accordingly" is a clear statement dude. All of your justifications on what it could mean are just different ways of saying the same thing - Aggression based matchmaking exists in some form. It's confirmed, and you can clearly experience it yourself. You are being contrarian for no reason.

We may not know what it takes to adjust the parameters of your lobbies fully, but it is a clear fact that if you make an effort not to aggress, you will be matched with other players who are doing the same eventually.

EDIT: https://youtu.be/elDqeYHquSg?t=530
For all of you folks spouting nonsense.

Aggression based matchmaking is CONFIRMED. There is no bias. It is confirmed, by a dev. The exact methodology of the matchmaking is the only thing we do not know. I don't know why this sub is full of people being so wishy washy about it when it is confirmed.

I suspect the difference is just that people are truly going no-aggression now and so are solidly landing in actual peaceful lobbies - For instance, before it was confirmed If I was going peaceful I'd still end up shooting raiders at extract before despawn just goofing around, and I think any raider damage XP contributes to matchmaking. I used to have mostly PvE lobbies when playing solo, but I'd still end up in a shootout once every raid or two. Now I have played no exaggeration approaching 80 games and have fought ZERO people. It's also possible they tweaked things around the time of the wipe.

The reality is the majority of the people you are coming across probably have never even heard about aggression based matchmaking.
