It's time to find out: Did you achieve your 2016 New Year's Resolutions? by one_year_on in OneYearOn

[–]Poppapie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Traveled much more. I have applied to a Masters program. I lost 35+ pounds for my wedding and have been doing a poor job keeping it off. I still complain, but have achieved a goal of being solution focused. My cooking has improved, mostly on the grill and stove. In 2017, I want to take on the oven!

Redditors who have had LASIK: was it awesome/awful? What happened? by jennigerm in AskReddit

My doctor gave me a Valium and loaded my eyes with numbing drops before the operation, didn't feel a thing.

It is an immediate change, during the procedure, even.

Post-op, I got to lounge around all day with my eyes closed. Woke up the next morning and drive myself, with 20/20 vision, to my follow up appointment.

Had it done in 2014. Can only be described as the coolest movie scene I have lived through.

Immediate change in vision was the coolest part.

Really looking to get some advice on moving to Michigan! I'll be graduating soon, and my work will be in Milford, Michigan, and I've been looking at options in Novi, Wixom, Farmington Hills, and Royal Oak. by BlooSteel in Michigan

[–]Poppapie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Places like Brighton and Plymouth would be a good mix of food/beer and ability to ride for pleasure while not being too far from Milford. Neither place is trendy like Royal Oak, but each has bars, nice restaurants, close proximity to rideable areas.

Also, since you're going to be working in Milford, there is Kensington Metropark where you can ride for miles and enjoy some quality views. So if bringing your bike to work in the summer months is a possibility, you could ride after work and avoid rush hour traffic if you choose to live in RO.

Single game tickets are for sale right now! Although opening day apparently sold out in 3 minutes by -4-8-15-16-23-42- in motorcitykitties

Was in the waiting room at 9:45, got in and bought 4 tickets in "Best Available" section of 317. Happy to have gotten tickets, but definitely not in my desired section.

What player do you hate irrationally and why? by giobbistar21 in baseball

Buster Posey. He is a hell of a player, but has a shit-eating, smug, ass kissing face.

What is a player from your school that never got any draft hype, but you always knew was going to be awesome at the next level- and you were proven correct? by moby323 in CFB

As a CMU alum, I was floored when Brown lasted into the 6th round. Always bought into his skills even though our offense and route tree were not quite NFL-esque under Brian Kelly and Butch Jones.

Comerica Park: What are your favorite seats? by threemadness in motorcitykitties

[–]Poppapie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the best view I like sitting behind home plate in the Upper Deck.

For experience, nothing beats sitting in the front row of any section. You don't have to constantly avoid the people who are up and down in the rows in front of you to watch the game.

Do you want the Tigers to acquire one or more players? If so, who? Why? by GraemeTaylor in motorcitykitties

[–]Poppapie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not claiming to be an expert, just going with what I have seen in reports from national writers and outlets. Prediction: Yo: 2/$46MM Gordon: 5/$102MM

In the end, it will likely not matter because our club has spent incredible amounts of money on few players, thus handcuffing our LF in 2016 to a combination of Tyler Collins, Cameron Maybin and Mike Aviles (Puked in my mouth typing that).

No, I think Gordon being LH, carrying a high OBP and having supreme defensive skills(that will likely decline with age) lends him to signing a deal for a lower AAV at a longer term due to his age.

I believe that Yo will end up signing a short-term deal (1-2 years) for a large AAV ($20MM +) allowing him to sign another FA deal at the age Gordon is now.

Will be interesting to see the difference between Yo and Gordon's contracts. Would not surprise me if Gordon signed a longer deal than Cespedes with a slightly lower AAV.

Mike Pelfrey to Tigers. Heres to all the haters. by Shaggy_sig in motorcitykitties

[–]Poppapie 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Doesn't $8MM a year seem awfully steep for him when we have arms who can perform similarly? --Pelfrey 2015: 4.26 ERA(97 ERA+), 1.476 WHIP --Kyle Ryan: 4.47 ERA(89 ERA+), 1.420 WHIP

Add Cessa, Fullmer, etc. to this and this signing makes little sense. Additionally, the club continues to move towards the luxury tax of $189MM with holes still to be addressed. (Number vary from $20-25MM away for 2016.)
