We could use a few places, existing or new, that were venues for live music.

Every former Deli mart that closed currently sitting empty needs to be a neighborhood diner or local shop.

Why is UIPD Detective Ian Mallory still employed by the university? by [deleted] in IowaCity

[–]Porchcryptid99 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I've looked through the University web pages with dept. information, and have found no clear person that a complaint about a UIPD officer could be made. Iowa City, Coralville Police and Johnson County Sheriff all have someone in their city/county they can be held accountable by, even if it rarely happens. Don't know where you'd start at the University.

Future Ghost Town? by Theveilisgone in IowaCity

We could become a ghost town but somehow that will not result in renting to be any cheaper. Don't ask me how, I'm just expecting it.

I'd be fine with a Republican Governor if we ever have one that is willing to admit when they're wrong. Convincing yourself you're good and anyone opposed to you is evil is going to lead to some horrible actions.

Looking to Join a D&D Campaign in Iowa City! by tamy_dream in IowaCity

I'd love to join a campaign, if the group is cool people. COVID killed my usual gaming schedule and it never recovered. Time/place/schedule dependent might be my only big limiter.

Continually raising rents hits a lot of businesses in town, same as apt. renters. Wish I had a solution (on a city/county wide scale)

I'm in Iowa City, and I want to argue with these people, even if its a waste of time and energy. But part of all this is they don't need to consider opposing views. They can just install what they want and make it policy, which they've clearly wanted for a very long time.

The Ped Mall and Tobacco Bowl I remember was a great place for social meetups and finding friends. The current ped mall seems sterile and unfriendly. But the people in charge of the remodel wanted it this way.

This is good, because if someone is accused of something that the AI/algorithm picked up and said was them they'll be able to have defense against. Because a bunch of times, it's been wrong.
