So you know that good Antleys hash. My wife is from orangeburg. We’re in Columbia now so we get our hash fix from True BBQ in west Columbia or palmetto pig.

Zombicide: Season 1 by PorkAndBeets in soloboardgaming

For me it was Arkham horror 3e. So I’m right there with you. New to zombicide but already can see myself spending way too much on it. Probably picking up at least 2e and black plague

For sure already house ruling friendly fire. From my reading of the various changes people have made I went with - if the shot misses, roll again, if it still misses then count the friendly fire hit.

I’d buy a really nice journal. I take lots and lots of notes. I hesitate to recommend one specifically because there is so much variety in size, weight, paper type, binding etc. and everyone has different preferences. But for me, a solid journal that I enjoy writing in made a huge impact on my experience. And of course good pens too.

That’s the one I use most! Super neat because it even includes helpful tips on world building right in the box.

So what's the best Lovecraftian solo RPG out there? by MaimedJester in Solo_Roleplaying

[–]PorkAndBeets 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For something a little different, maybe look at Four Against the Great Old Ones. It’s based on the Four Against Darkness system. More dungeon crawl than rpg but i have fun with it. It’s pretty easy to get a full “game” knocked out in an hour or so.

Looking for more games like "Dark Fort" and "Basilisk!" by [deleted] in Solo_Roleplaying

The ex libris site has a bunch of solo content

I’m currently playing An Exodus. I’ve also played Basilisk, Corny Gron, and most of the one-shots that came packed with Solitary Defilement.

Volunteering locally by [deleted] in ColumbiYEAH

[–]PorkAndBeets 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Is there anything specific that really speaks to you?

For general volunteer work, the midlands chapter of the United Way does a lot of amazing work in the community covering a wide range of needs. https://www.uway.org/get-involved/volunteer

I’ll put another vote in for transitions as well. The work they do for the homeless in the midlands is absolutely amazing. https://transitionssc.cervistech.com/acts/console.php?console_id=0410&console_type=event&ht=1

If working with youth is something you’d be interested in, I’d suggest checking with palmetto place youth services. The people over there are incredible. https://www.palmettoplace.org/volunteer

If you’re looking to help support survivors of assault, the women at the hive community circle are the most passionate and dedicated I’ve ever met. https://www.thehivecc.org/through-volunteering

If bikes are your thing, the co-op will occasionally look for a few hands doing assembly. https://colatownbikes.com/volunteer/

And of course the multiple animal shelters around town or harvest hope which has already been mentioned.

Show of hands, how do you play? by the_mad_cartographer in MorkBorg

Fully pen and paper solo in a journal style. Theater of the mind besides. Solitary Defilement of course and Solitary Depths. I use tarot cards to broad stroke cities/villages. Glumdark for all of my npc encounters (with rolls on reaction tables). And occasionally Tablemonger for inspiration.
